honestly i think playing champions that don't have potential to punish enemy stupidity teaches you more about how to play correctly. although champions like

Alistar
Blitzcrank are much easier to impact / win the game if you want to learn the role it's better to play passive supports to give you a better focus on how you can impact the game from a support role.



There is no ‘best’ support, but the top four is probably
Tahm Kench,
Soraka,
Alistar, and
Thresh. Other good supports are
Bard,
Nami,
Sona,
Janna, and
Leona. Would not advise to play anything else unless you know what you are doing, but considering the title of this thread, I would not say that is the case.
