Just bought Renekton for solo top playing, but I'm kind of lame with him.

I would appreciate some help with
  • Skill order
  • Masteries
  • Runes
  • Viable items
  • Farming
  • Fighting players

Please don't just throw in some random 1 sentence answers but a bit of explanation, and keep away unnecessary childish arguments.
Want to play him on ranked so please keep that in consideration too.

Thank you in advance.

Okay, I don't really play Renekton, but I still know how to play him, you might want someone with a bit more experience to answer this.

Skill order : Start with W, then take a point in E, then start maxing Q. You want all 3 of your spells at level 3 for strong trading power. You max Q because it gives you great farming and harassing potential, whilst also giving some sustain.

Viable items : You want tanky offense items. If you're laning vs AP, you get a Hexdrinker, or if they're harass heavy, you can get a Spirit Visage to stay on relatively high HP. Definitely get an early brutalizer for sure - so OP. Get your boots, then black cleaver and you'll be rolling. I think most Renektons get a bloodthirster afterwards, then follow up with defensive items - GA and randuins seems to be the popular choice. Then, take an offensive + defensive choice, such as Maw of malmortius, Mercurial scimitar.

Farming : E > Q > E with fury should give some really strong wave clear. Otherwise, just lasthit. I don't really think I can go indepth on this, because it's pretty obvious.

Fighting : During laning phase, you can start winning lane hard around level 3 - 4. When playing against ranged champions, sit in the bush until level 3 and last hit when you can, taking minimal harass. Then, you can go aggressive and try to force them out of lane. Against melee champions, you can throw out an early W or Q for harass, then go hard aggression at level 3 - 4. Playing against Irelia, you need to go super hard pre-5 or 6, or else she'll just overpower you and win lane.

Isn't starting with Q or E better for early game? I mean if you are kind of passive why does the stun benefit?

Forgot to put masteries in the list, is it better to go for offense or defense tree? I'd say defense since offense tree seems to benefit carries and Renekton doesn't seems like one.

Because with W, you can get off 4 autoattacks without much counterattack. Auto > W > Auto is a quick 4 autoattacks.

Also, just check a guide.

I love renk! Get your stun lvl one and dash at lvl two. Then start maxing cull. I usually run flat armor, attack damage, and mr. With my quints either being move speed or AD (depending on if I'm comfortable. I usually rush a phage then brutalizer but it's usually situational. His early and mid game are amazing but he falls off late in my opinion. Also he's amazing at baiting. If you get an elixir and save your ult you can get people to dive you then stun them for free kills. :) For lane harass dash in auto attack, stun, cull the meek, and dash away. Try not to use cull around minions to much or your lane will push hard. Also don't forget your wards, of course. Hope some of this helped!
