I've always been wondering why all stars keep in their orbit around the earth rather than falling on it.
EDIT: I'm interested but I don't invest time in it. Honestly I don't see where you want this thread to go, except for more sorry jokes.

^Yeah, this thread is going nowhere. The OP needs to at least provide some context as to what to discuss, not just ask a three word question.
"Games may not be art, but this one did wonderful things to my ****." - Roger Ebert
"I AM PRETTY SURE THIS MANGA IS VIOLATING SOME LAWS ABOUT CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Heh, sorry.
Just, like, since this is off-topic perhaps just talk about your experience and all...?
Also I have a competition coming up soon, on astronomy. Meh. I want to see how much I know..

I still have no clue what level of talk you're asking for. What are your experiences?
What's the competition about? Some specific topics?
Lord of the Rings in modern science.
And now I'll get out of here because I think I lack the expertise for this thread.

Now I'm back. Totally forgot about this thread.
There is this project where we have to terraform an exoplanet, assuming it is year 3000 and human are able to travel at speed of light.
Any list of like, super earth and all that can be used?

So now I need some help here.
Assume that Human has the technology to do lots of ****. My target is to terraform Titan, and any strategy would be possible as long as it obeys the laws of science. So I need to overcome the Teamperature, Atmosphere and Landmass Problem, also to create a magnetic field.
If I crash Hyperion into Titan, igniting the Methane in the atmosphere, will I create enough heat and energy to melt the surface and increase the temperature? Also, is the use of Methanotroph applicable to change the atmosphere? Since I need to induce oxygen and also increase the temperature. Is there any way to harness and retain the magnetic field Titan gets from Saturn once in a while?
I am pretty new here, so I want to know if the above is logical and/or applicable. Thanks.

you have to start small. bacteria are not very fast and the environment is very cold, therefore, you'd have to spend a good amount of energy to heat the methane and take your time to waitfor metabolization. Again, it probably would be easier to make a platform with a small infrasturcture for basic starter operations, you can use ambient methane for heat (maybe take a good amount of oxygen to start) and reuse the co2 for food production (plants, wheat).
I presum you want the magnetic fiel to protect from cosmic rays. I have no math on this but maybe you can design high capacity coils for that effect, localy. otherwise i don't have the confidence to say the matterials in the core of titan are capable of a planet-wide magnetic field without a massive raise in kinectic energy (rotational speed).
you can't ignite the atmosphere because you have no oxidant to my recolection.
i'll get to some numbers in a moment...
edit: oh, wait, year 3000? why not have metal-proteins build graphene based structures and check in once in a while? not to mention you can probably have a very well designed nuke to make a controlled chain reaction of the surface into a breathable atmosphere, but at a very nice angle such that titan gets enough aditional spin for it's new and awesome magnetic field?
edit2: trying something on Europa or Ganimede would have been a bit easier, imo. and neither of the refered bodies are exoplanets.
