Are the books as graphic with the sex as the show?
About, yes. I only watched the first half of the first season of the show, and what I noticed is that it has just slightly less sex than the books do. Which is a problem, because I'm talking about the total amount of sex, not about the proportion of sex to other things. The books have slightly more sex than the show, but they also have a ****ton more of other things. (Such as a lot of descriptions of food. A lot of descriptions of food.) So, overall, sex is significantly less important in the books.

Don't worry, people who are watching A Game of Thrones. Things only get worse. Other people you like die. People you don't like live. And to top it off, you'll start to like some of the people you don't like.

Honestly, he's a pretty pitiful character in the books. At least he's never a viewpoint character, so you don't get to peek inside of his head and find out that he's just as bad of a person as he appears to be.
But, yeah, he's a spoiled little kid who gets handed relatively absolute power. And that turns out to be a bad idea. Go figure.

This is a pretty accurate description of how things go.
