not very hyped for it myself, but i can see it being a hype. multifunctioning things are always welcome in this world.

I hope this will also work as normal tablet, it is already stated that it works with NVIDEA and Android, so this shouldn't be a big problem. Why would you buy an IPad if you can get a good tablet with console-level graphics plus the support of games and apps? Through this, it could also be possible to play those apps on your TV, which would also be something new.

The only problem seems to be the battery pack. Hope you can connect a loading cable directly to the tablet.

Thoughts?

Great idea, but I'm afraid that it might be impractical with current tech.
They're gonna have to shoot for a premium-ish price this time around (500-600$), otherwise they're just gimping themselves right out of the gate.
Mobile tech is where progress is the fastest right now and using older tech is gonna come with battery and/or performance costs to the end user.
The big problem with mobile functionality is that battery life is gonna be **** unless they pack a massive battery (which seems unlikely). Even the best high performance tablets out today only last 3-4 hours when playing games.

Rumored:

10 finger touchscreen
Hearthstone did send out a tweet to the Switch
Will combine all functionalities of a home console, portable and tablet.
Controllers include pointers as touch-replacement for TV
Confirmed:
Nvidea CPU + GPU
Android-based

But more likely going to be around the 500-600 mark.

Nintendo has already gone on recorded saying that this will be the first time in a while that they will sell there hardware at a profit, they have always sold hardware at a loss so that they could focus on pushing software. So yeah I think we can expect it to be more expensive then they have sold their consoles in the past.
