Searz's winter tab-cleaning, Mobafire Tab nr.2:
OH, RIGHT!

There is one story I am interested in writing, for a series or a movie, or heck, even manga/anime if that's a possibility, hah.
It would be a very mature story, one where people will most certainly die and/or lose limbs.

It would be a story involving "psychic" powers set in a world where brain-implants and crime are commonplace.(it's the brain-implants that give people powers) Even though the technology to monitor crime very much exists, it gets too easily vandalized to have any real effect.
The world is in a bit of a slump, with resources being scarce and the human population being far too large to support.

I'm thinking along the lines of starting the story focused on a hardworking duty-full person with amazing psychic potential that is a part of the police force, being a bit of a rookie at the start of the movie. It will through the eyes of a newcomer introduce some of the concepts of training with the weapons and abilities and how they work, but it will never be shoved down the throat of the viewer. In an event that is the result of corruption in the system he loses all faith in the system he once believed in so strongly. So he promises himself that he will bring justice to the people by bringing down the entire system around them. (but his motivation never being shoved down the throat of the viewer a la' most-villains-today)
And this isn't just gonna be some short part of the story. I expect almost half of the story to play out around this person.
The story then skips a few years in time and follows another person with a distinctly different personality. A person that does not care much for his job nor the people around him. A person that would rather play around, pulling pranks on his co-workers than actually work.
He would eventually, down the line, be pitted up against the previous main character, against his own will. Where upon he enters "survival mode" and runs for his dear life, sacrificing and ignoring all of his friends just so that he can escape with his life.
His his superiors are disappointed in his behavior and he almost loses his job. He feels completely humiliated by the ordeal, so he decides to finally get serious about training up his psychic abilities to get revenge on 'that ****er'. His feelings of humiliation are not only from the talk of the people around him, but also from his own feelings, as he feels embarrassed for the fact that he actually cared about his co-workers(that no longer are with him).
After some time they finally meet for one final showdown.
The ending will be one of the following:
1. The selfish ******* defeats the guy that is willing to sacrifice everything to make the world a better place and then shoves one of his weapons right into his eye-socket and then blows his head up. We then watch as the ******* is praised by everyone around him and celebrated for his actions, all the while knowing that the bad guy won.
2. The righteous guy sets up a weapon of mass-destruction and is then brought right to the brink of death by the *******, who spits, curses and laughs at the dying man that shakes in fear of his life, but finally manually activates the bomb and blows them both up to kingdom come.
3. The righteous guy sets up a weapon of mass-destruction and is then gruesomely killed by the *******. While the ******* laughs and feels very content with himself he doesn't realize that the other guy already successfully set up the weapon and notices it just seconds before it goes off.

I might also change it around to feature a good youngster that - just like the first guy - only wants the best for the people, instead of an *******. Where the ending would either result in:
The battle ending with the older guy winning, then seeing how much like himself the youngster is he starts to question himself and his methods, only to allow the rest of the elite police force to close in on him and surround him. He then fights for his life, killing off most of the police, but dying in the process, leaving only some last words of inspiration for the youngster.
In this ending I don't want there to be a clear main character or antagonist. I want them both to hold both those roles.

The control of polarity will be one of the main fighting mechanics (i.e: control over magnetism, which in turn also means electricity), with many physical weapons made and tuned to fit that fighting-style.
The other main mechanic would be the ability to control the molecular density of objects, which also of course would have weapons tuned to fit that style of fighting.

One weapon that would work with both of them would be a gun with wires attached to the bullets it shoots out. When a target is hit it could be electrocuted when used with polarity and when controlling the density of the bullet it could be reduced in size so that it has less air-resistance and more penetration, to later be increased in size when it hits the target, to cause maximum tissue damage for the target.
Also a sharp object attached to a long chain would work roughly the same.
Another very important use of an object at the end of a long chain/wire/string would be to change the polarity of objects at a distances. Like, say, throwing it at a dumpster and then at another and forcing them to rapidly attract each other, crushing anybody in between.

To use these powers you're gonna need an energy source to provide these sorts of changes in energy. Like having batteries on the police suits to power their abilities.
I want the "psychic" abilities to be as close to feasible as possible. I want them to be clever and refrain from defying as many of the laws in our current world as possible while still being very powerful and interesting.
