Well Mordekaiser being able to essentially become invulnerable off of 1 creep wave made him hard to push out of lane. NOW there is a lot more strategy involved with how you want to control your lane. It's less easy mode, essentially they did an Orinanna "nerf" allow for those who are good with Morde to still succeed, and those who aren't get owned.

I don't play morde and I never felt he was a nightmare in lane. I think it was a bit cruel of riot but understandable because he was just impossible to get out of his lane once he got spell vamp.
i think the best thing to do is give him back the extra shield per enemies hit thing, but put a limit on how many minions you can generate shield from that way, like say 3, half a creepwave and not counting any champs you hit.
