Yep. No point in Manamune if you still have a smidgeon of an AP ratio and you can just go Archangels. Also it's not recommended to just rush to high damage items like that on Ryze because most of his power comes from mana, so just getting a Frozen Heart or Banshee's Veil will help your damage while giving you a bunch of defenses too.

I thought I saw somewhere that Jebus posted a quote from a high-ranking Ryze player who used manamune over archangel's. He said that AP is useless now and it'd be better just to be able to do heavy damage to towers; it's not for extra damage against enemies.

That's pretty dumb though. Ryze still has some remnant of an AP ratio, might as well boost your skills a LIIIIIIITLE and still be able to do damage to turrets.

I guess it depends how much AD you get from Manamune.
If it's far, far less than the AP you get from Archangel's, I could see it being better.
Correct me if I'm wrong but, don't you only deal 40% of your AP to structures? You would need a ****-ton of mana to make the AP from Archangel's worth it since he has such bad AP ratios.
EDIT: Doing some simple math with Ryze at 5K mana gives 100 AD or 150 AP. IMO, Manamune is better now. Giving... Spell Flux I think, only 15 more damage. :P

Autoattacks are mitigated by ~60+% on structures as well due to their high armor, so essentially it would be about the same
