[18.1] TFT Set 18 Mechanic: Wisps

Teamfight Tactics' Set 18, Enchanted Wilds, goes live with Patch 18.1 on August 26th! Learn all there is to know about the upcoming central set mechanic: Wisps.

Set Mechanic: Wisps

Set 17's set mechanic introduced Space Gods; entities that replaced the carousel and offered boons and blessings. In Set 18, we're leaving the divine behind, and returning to something more familiar in more ways than one. Not only is the carousel back, but so is a past set mechanic. Wisps, Set 18's mechanic, is an update to the Charms mechanic from Set 12, Magic N' Mayhem.

For those of you who hadn't had a chance to magic it up, Charms appeared in the fifth shop slot here and again and offered some sort of temporary benefit that cost gold.

Wisps are the same. They will appear occasionally as temporary single-use sources of power in Combat, for resources like XP or gold, or even what is described as a risky deal with the denizens of the forest. Wisps should feel a bit better than Charms overall, as Riot has applied several quality-of-life tweaks to the mechanic.

You'll be able to purchase one Wisp per round, and they will appear in every other shop. As the game progresses, Wisps become more powerful; and more costly.

Wisp Categories

Wisps will be split into 7 distinct and colour-coded categories:
