League of Legends (LoL) Question: Are non-Meta guides taken serious?

    Are non-Meta guides taken serious?

I was thinking of making a guide for a new champion when I do the final big update this season of my Ahri guide, and I though: Why not a non-Meta build?

But then it hit me: Do people actually read this, or I am going to get raged at because I am "Trolling" and "a example of a terrible guide maker"", etc?

So, before getting raged at, I prefer asking your opinion first :D

A Yes/No and Why as an answer so we can all understand each other :)

    Thanks!

I'm considered as the biggest meta-head on the site here, allow me to answer.

    1) Some guides are unconventional but do work. If you have solid reasoning and a pretty much optimal build for that unconventional 'something', I won't downvote you. For example, OTGBionicArm (a veteran out here) had an AP varus guide. He had a great item build and solid explanations which is why I - in the end - upvoted it.

    2) Some guides are more fit for the humor section (because they aren't viable AT ALL and just exist for fun). For example, an ADC Maokai guide got downvoted to oblivion but once he uploaded it to the humor section he actually got a great score and a lot of views.

Just make sure that, whatever you do, you actually have good knowledge of both the game and the champion in question, but that is required for any guide.

@ Fat_fast: Your definition of meta is wrong. The meta is a dominant strategy or, in case of champions, set of the most powerful champions in the current state of the game. It is constantly changing, together with the changes in the game and it doesn't have a thing to do with testing the champions.

Meta = tried and tested things or generalized thing that works. It's off meta =/= it's non-viable, just means nobody discovered it yet or it is too much of a niche. As soon as people start trying and testing it to a certain point, it becomes the new meta, rinse and repeat. Do what you think, it could be the jackpot I'm talking about.

@ Bryun: It needs to work in multiple scenarios on higher level. No one gives a donkey *** about someone rolling with mordekaiser support at Bronze 5.

Off-meta builds generally don't get upvotes unless you are either a featured author or decided to list your summoner name on this site and confirm your rating. Since I didn't do the latter, my Riven mid guide never got too high (was written before she became FotM, so at that point it was considered trolling by a lot of people).

I'd recommend proving that the build works in MULTIPLE scenarios, one game won't cut it. If you are consistently successful with the build I'd then consider it a viable unconventional pick.

i've seen jungle Teemo, and i my self do an ad Teemo build for certain matchups in toplane. I kinda emulate what the rain man does in that regard but it works and i like it.

I don't see why an ad jungle Teemo wouldn't work, but as stated by this guy, make sure you have good reasoning and a good explanation.

I'm always open to weird builds which is why i come here and other websites like this because i can find interesting builds and evaluate their effectiveness by testing them in a normals or something. Nautilus mid, Blitzcrank mid, adc Malzahar, etc etc (speaking of adc malz. i almost got a penta in a game with it. i blame karma for ksing)

You will find people like me who actively search for this kind of stuff and test it out and you will find the people who look down on you for even thinking of the possibility of it

So as long as I explain myself correctly and give solid explanations I can publish it succsesfully and people will take it serious.

Do you think this would be viable for a build, or AD Jungle Teemo is just too much? :P (http://prntscr.com/2vtekq)

It really depends. Something completely insane and unviable like AP Vayne is just kinda stupid, but something with at least a level of possibility like Zyra jungle, Blitzcrank mid, Soraka top, etc, are fine with me. Thinking out of the box isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there are limits. I'm always up for new things that I can try(as long as they don't involve Teemo, the bastard).
