Description

I have hella games in d3 and d2. Perma tilted but I might know quite a bit about support, as I main it. I enjoy sharing me thoughts on the current support champions (this is accounting for the eye of the watcher cdr buff for patch 7.18).

S Tier 1

SKings of engage. Extremely hard to kill playmaking supports that dominate the map. Push them to their towers and you will die to ganks. Great vision/objective control.

A+ Tier 2

A+Taric is a bit intensive. When to shield, when to heal, who to shield, who to heal, when to use ult... It's not easy in a solo q environment. Sona is crazy; the best of the ardent supports imo. You have your limits you can't really cross as Sona, but mid/late game teamfighting and baron killing is insane. Lulu is downright amazing with Kog. That W is a wonderful ability as well.

A Tier 3

AKarma is quite underrated, not saying that just because, well, I main it. Great poke and waveclear in lane, scales nicely in teamfights with empowered shield (e). Devastating against passive supports with a pushing adc at your side (sivir, trist, xayah). Morg hard counters the likes of bard, blitz, alistar, rakan. She is the kryptonite of engage supports (in lane at least), and you will have a very hard time winning with tanky/engage supports if morgana manages to get ahead. Nami, Karma, Morg all benefits from the Eye of the Watchers cdr buff. They are punished must less for building mobis now. This boosts their vision control, roams, and objective taking capabilities. Upgraded ap sup item + mobis is a must-rush.

B+ Tier 4

B+Everyone cries about Janna. The thing is, if you pick Janna, you're literally saying "I surrender the laning phase". I have no issue taking first tower against a Janna as Karma or Lulu. Lategame Janna is a different story, mostly if you have a lategame adc (Kog) at your side. The worst laning in the game, can't follow up on jg ganks, can't cank, bad roams, but godlike lategame scaling potention.

B Tier 5

B Solid choices. A good bard can try his best to hard carry a game. Zyra and Braum are in weird spots but people can still make them work.

C+ Tier 6

C+ Blitz is great into passive supports... but even that can be hit or miss decided upon the teamcomp. Soraka is nullified after purchasing a few extra items, and more or less has no lategame to speak of. She just gets run down by tanks or assassins after laning phase ends.
