Vlad’s main early tool is Transfusion
, which has low range and high CDs at early levels. Harass when Transfusion
is on cooldown. Vlad is vulnerable to poke.
Vlad has poor waveclear at early levels, making it difficult early for him to control the lane state. Force Vlad under tower to open timings to roam, or freeze the lane on your side. It will be difficult for him to unfreeze without his jungler.
Vlad's Sanguine Pool
has a long cooldown at Level 1, longer than most dashes or engages. Engage to burn Sanguine Pool
. Even if it does not result in a kill, Vlad will need to play safely while it is down.
In Losing Matchup
Avoid harassing Vlad when his empowered Transfusion
is up. Watch the red bar under his health. If Vlad uses it to farm, trade afterwards.
Tell your jungler if Vlad uses Sanguine Pool
. The long cooldown at Level 1 means there is a big window where he will be vulnerable to a gank.
Taking Ignite vs Vlad can help turn many matchups, especially for champions without Grevious Wounds in the kit. If possible, apply Grevious Wounds before he uses empowered Transfusion
, as it decays. Post-6, use Grevious Wounds to mitigate Hemoplague
healing.
Vlad can Tides of Blood
then Flash. If you are low and Vlad is charging his Tides of Blood
outside of its range, expect the Tides of Blood
then Flash combo.
