You want to be smart about it, but if you can present yourself as a threat to lanes and the jungle, you ease the pressure on your lanes. This is accomplished through frequent and competent ganks "

Most people Riven can handle, but the earlier you hunt them, the better. Riven's early damage is stupid good, and stun + knockback + passive will wreck almost anyone.
