"I prefer gauntlet instead of manamune, because i see the slow passive from gauntlet help a lot for chasing enemies, and fits very good with the spammable kits of ryze's abilities, and also give a good amount of mana, armour and cdr. And, in my opinion, try spirit visage as defensive options instead "
