"Ryze is already off tank enough with RoA, Frozen Heart, and Banshee's. He has two single target spells (thus getting the full effect of the Rylai's) one of which roots them for longer than rylai's slows. The snare makes the slow obsolete. You want a support item? Let's start at the beginning.
Doran's Shield: Sure, gives you that bit of armor and some health regen. That doesn't top the extra 40 damage from Sapphire Crystal along with the 400 active health from health potions.
