"The reason to play AP Sion is because with his recent buffs he has a free page of MR per level blues and a permanent HP buffer, making him easy to build tons of AP on and still have a measure of natural tankiness.
Plus he's one of the few AP's with lane sustain built into his ult and shield. "

"They're similar in a linear thought process, and very different in practical application.
Amumu is a jungler and Leona is realistically a good duo laner as well, so you have the choice to take one in comps where you can't fit the other. "

I would personally buy, however;
Aegis, Frozen Heart, Warmogg's, WotA, Banshee's or FoN.
