Not as ugly as your ugly face!
I've noticed an upsetting trend here at MobaFire.
Most of the community will appreciate the information in a guide, take it for what it is, how it is presented, and learn from it.
More casual "Moba members" are amazingly friendly and accepting and easy to talk to, they'll easily obtain the information presented no matter how it is presented. It's great. 90% of the community is very receptive and reasonable and enjoyable, probably even more than 90% to be honest.
But then you get into the more, "Involved" Moba community, and they are -not- as warm and accepting.
They get so focused on the "Appeal" and the look of a guide, on what guide format and layout you're using, on colors and pictures and ****, that they don't even take the most important part of a guide away when they're done. THE INFORMATION PRESENTED BY THE AUTHOR.
The build can be strong as hell, great explanations, but it wasn't pretty enough, so the "Good patron of MobaFire" downvotes because the guide is not attractive enough to be considered a high ranked MobaFire guide. MobaFire has a higher standard of excellence!
*Scoff
Yet those members may very well be downvoting the most effective guide for the subject at hand, the best way to play a certain champion, etc.
Disappointing. You know what you guys should do?
Evaluate a guide relating to LEAGUE OF LEGENDS on how well it works in LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, not how pretty it looks in the MobaFire page.
That is all.

Wall of text these days seems to be anything that isn't a youtube video or have a picture for every two lines of text.
Back in my day wall of texts used to be the ones without formatting and massive run on sentances that'd leave you out of breath if you tried to read it aloud, strange to see how it's used now.
Quality post and glad I dropped by your blog.
Cho vs Nid in lane is a pain :P
Given the current format/influential members of the community, that emphasis on visuals isn't going to change any time soon.
To me, Chandro's guide to Corki is a PERFECT example, one of many, where a guide full of excellent information was ignored by a player, and focus was instead places on the way the guide was formatted.
Yet Chandro is part of a team that competes with the best teams in the world. His guide -IS- better and more informational than the guide of a 1200 player who may or may not know what he's talking about. Even if there's less information to learn from, the information is proven and undeniable.
And yes Adeori. How very right you are. The point of the suggested concept is that people wouldn't be down voting over size and length, or complaining about formatting. There would just be a short build with a quick explanation, and there would be nothing else to judge it by.
Those quick builds would be judged fairly, and would not require vast amounts of time to be put into them. Not everybody has the time to write a short novel explaining a champion, but sometimes they might have an excellent build enough a quick explanation that would be useful.
However given the current state, that would never fly in MobaFire due to the ridiculous and ever growing standards for the length and quality of guides.
For the record, I've heard a few things been said about me and my way of thinking that are simply not true.
The amount of effort put into a guide naturally makes it better, and your REWARD for putting in that time is naturally going to be a highly rated guide that is well accepted so PLEASE STOP thinking I don't understand WHY to format a guide and make it look nice.
However the EMPHASIS should not be that. It should be on the information presented.
The guide is not about having a nice looking guide. The guide is about League of Legends related material, and it should be judged on the League of Legends related material.
And it upsets me that it's not always the case.
