"There is no reason to think 15 AP will beat 10 AD. Consider a scaling of 1.0. That means that two autoattacks (2x10) will already be stronger. Additionally, the health on Doran's Blade is higher and the passive is also a lot stronger.
Finally, you have no magic penetration and getting it in runes"

"Jarvan loses to a good Vladimir because Vlad outscales him and Jarvan has no sustain.
Hard counters to vlad top are: Wukong, Akali and Yorick.
A couple of other hard matchups are Swain and Rumble. I wouldn't recommend playing Vladimir mid-lane."

"Starting items arent strong enough. Runes require armour pen rather than AD since Arp works incredibly well with his % armour reduction. Also, utility tree most likely beats offence."
