Things got a bit hectic with Christmas and New Years. Family obligations and busy schedules stopped team Alpha Threat from getting together in any serious way. We did have another competition date on the fourth of January. The team got together for our 7 PM start time and got our schedules and lanes worked out. The captain went to register for the event and it turns out the event was 7 PM Eastern Standard Time. Now as a native Californian, this was distressing news. We had missed the event entirely.
We laughed pretty good about it, and since we had blocked the time off we practiced some ranked team play. It was a good time. We had some changes to the lineup, im doing support role, learning some more things. We have a good player come in and give us some pointers. It helps to have someone with some experience to give tips and practice them in game. Am I happy about being Support? Not really, but I can play a good support and that's what the team needs. Honestly I need to get better at my mid lane game before taking it to a tournament.
RESOLUTION: PLAY THE CHAMP YOU HATE GOING AGAINST
If you want to be a value to your team you need to fill the position that is required. You should be versed in every lane possible, good enough to fill in when someone is out. Also learning every lane will give you insight into how to counter champions. I was mid as Morgana and the enemy picked Fizz, my team thought there would be no way to counter him. I know Fizz, I used to play him a great deal in the past, so I know he is mana hungry. Scare him a bit and get him to run low on mana and he will be weak for ganks. He did get fed on other lanes and a few kills on me. He ran away with the game and we lost, but that is not the point. Get to know your enemy, play as them, see what makes them weak and learn to exploit it as other champions. Its not as champ selection driven as ROCK PAPER SCISSORS, there are champs that naturally counter, but you can counter by skills, positioning, and smarts. It may take a gank by a jungler, or simply farming up safely, and definitely not feeding. How do you figure it all out? Play the champ you hate to go against.
