I think the most effective support would be either Sona or Taric, in one match my friend and I lost to a Sona...'twas a sad day. But her utility is amazing as well as Taric's stun."

Really? At tank 5 it does a base 350 damage with 70% AP, compare this to Karthus with 550 AP and 60%.
