You won't really get any spell vamp from jungle minions, you actually auto quite a bit with him, so it helps your clear and damage. Spirit of the Anicent golem would be the only other alternative, but I feel like that would be pretty bad early on "

It can be good on sona and zyra to shore up their very poor early game survivability. I agree with Bioalchemist, it's dependent on your laning partner plus the enemy bot lane."
