Really? I play him mid occasionally and do pretty well. He's extremely good against champions without targeted CC/burst. You basically just don't die in laning phase because of
He doesn't have any advantages over any other mid laner with the exception of melee-ranged ones. Next to that his main harass comes from his W passive and his Q and both are hard to hit against the average mid champion. This makes trading problematic and most champions actually outrange him; examples are Syndra, Lux, Xerath and TF.
I do agree that he's stronger top due to the ability to zone the enemy out hard with brush, but he can certainly mid without issues if you don't pick into a dumb matchup.
