Good mages like Malzahar, Veigar, Annie, Anivia all have a stun or suppress that let you get off your full combo of spells. But you can take Exhaust Ignite instead of ghost ignite, can sometimes be good to shut down their carries and give you a bit of CC. You are quite fast with FoN anyway, and should not overextend.
