the problem is, that he wont be worth much if he gets bursted. Other mages can just blow something up and did their job. Vlad has to stick around. That is fairly difficult.
But if you can manage to evade the burst or kite the bruisers, vlad can be real terror. Especially in aoecomp"

and i can recommend buying wriggles if you take dmg in lane you want to heal up
if not, either buy it for the armor or wits end for the mr
if you are alrdy shutting down your lane, go for malady
