Introduction

Hi! I'm Alect and this is my guide for Teemo.
This is my first guide here on Mobafire. I would appreciate any feedback to help me improve this guide.

Currently I am playing on the chinese server of League of Legends. No...I am not chinese. I just live there.

Teemo is one of my favourite champions and I play him quite a lot and quite successful, so I decided to make a guide, showing and explaining you guys my way of playing the cutest champion ever.

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ tons of damage throughout the entire game
+ can outduel any autoattack relianed champion thanks to Blinding Dart
+ great escape/chasing with Move Quick and Noxious Trap
+ awesome suprise attacks with Camouflage
+ you can kill enemies, even if you are dead
+ easy multikills (especially with Runaan's Hurricane)
+ very difficult to gank, if Noxious Traps are placed well

Masteries

Offensive


Summoner's Wrath : Once you have used Ignite, it provides you with 5 bonus AD and AP. Helps your early game a lot.

Fury : This build focuses on AP Attackspeed. Bonus Attackspeed = you kill your oponents faster

Blast : Gives you more AP = you do more damage

Arcane Knowledge : Gives you a decent amount of magic penetration. It helps you do more damage and is a must take, because in this build we don't have that much magic penetration. That means every bit of extra magic penetration is welcomed.

Mental Force : Gives you a huge boost to your early game damage.

Spellsword : Most of our damage is dealt with autoattacks...and in combination with Toxic Shot your autoattacks deal even more damage and will hurt like hell.

Archmage : This masterie is awesome and a must-have. It increases your AP by 5%. That means...the more AP you get, the stronger this masterie.

Executioner : This is awesome for dueling, because you do even more damage with your shrooms and poison to enemys below 50% health.



Utility


Summoner's Insight : Flash is such an awesome masterie. You can use it both offensive (for example closing a gap between yourself and the one you are chasing) and defensive (escaping dangerous situations). So having Flash on a lower cooldown can save your life or earn you a kill more often.

Wanderer : Increases your already insane movementspeed even more.

Mastermind : You can use both your summoner spells more often.

Biscuiteer : It gives you more sustain in lane, so you can stay in lane and farm a bit longer.

Runes

Mark of Magic Penetration: As mentioned before, with this build we don't have that much magic penetration, so we need every bit of extra magic penetration we can get.

Greater Seal of Armor: Decent for top/bot lane. You suffer less damage from enemies. Very important for lane-matchups which outharrass you, for example Caitlyn. If you are playing mid lane, take these only, if you are going against an AD Midlaner like Talon.

Greater Quintessence of Ability Power: AWESOME!!! You get 15 bonus AP! Helps your early game A LOT, because you will deal tons of damage right from the beginning of the game!

Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power: This is very good for mid/late game. Your AP grows, the higher your ingame level.

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: Take this only, if you are playing against an heavy AP team or you are going Mid against an AP midlaner.

Summoner Spells

Ideal


Ignite: Increases your kill potential a lot. It will reduce healing effects of your target, like Master Yi's Meditate, so it is unlikely that a Health Potion will save them, once they are low life. They are destined to die ;)

Flash: It is the best live-saving summoner spell, because only Flash enables you to for example jump over walls. Combined with Teemo's insane movementspeed you can literally escape almost any situation.


OK


Barrier: If you think, you don't need Ignite for killing enemies and the enemy team has a lot gap-closers that deal a lot of damageas well, than you can take this summoner spells, because it will absorb a lot of damage and you will make it to your base a live. For example the enemy team has a Akali. Akali is so dangerous because of her Ult Shadow Dance. She jumps at you...and because you are so squishy, you will just die (if you don't have Barrier).
It also is great for surviving tracer ults like Caitlyn's Ace in the Hole or global ults like Karthus's Requiem.

Heal: Helps you and, if playing bot lane, your partner to sustain in lane. Also great for team-fights, because you can heal your entire team.

Teleport: Good for ganking and split-pushing. But...you are so fast, it won't save you that much time.

Cleanse: Only take this, if the enemy team has tons of CC. Can save your life, if you get stunned.


No...just...no


Ghost: You are already extremely fast and your Move Quick is sort of a mini Ghost. You really don't need more movementspeed.

Smite: Yeah...you can smite a minion every 70 seconds. Aehm...you are not a jungler...so no.

Revive: Teemo is a God in running away, so you shouldn't die too often.

Clarity: 95% of the time you should be poking your opponents with your autoattacks, not Blinding Darts. And the cooldown of Noxious Trap is too long to get problems with mana.

Clairvoyance: You have your Noxious Traps to provide you and your teammates with vision.

Exhaust: Your Noxious Traps do the slowing part and your Blinding Dart blinds the opponent. You don't need to reduce their Attackspeed, when you can blind the enemy so they won't be able to land their autoattacks anyways.

Abilities

camouflage Camouflage (Passive)

If Teemo stands still and takes no actions for 2 seconds, he becomes stealthed indefinitely. After leaving stealth, Teemo gains the Element of Surprise, increasing his attack speed by 40% for 2 seconds.

This passive is awesome. You can play ward or suprise your enemies, when you attack them out of nowhere and land a few autoattacks thanks to the 40% increased attackspeed. This will force them already to use their first Health Potion, unless they have a support who can heal them, like Soraka.


Blinding Dart (Q)

Obscures an enemy's vision with a powerful venom, dealing damage to the target unit and causing all attacks to miss for the duration. Deals 80/125/170/215/260 (+0.8 AP) magic damage and causes the target to miss all of their attacks for 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5 seconds.

This is the reason, why any autoattack relianed champion fears you. It does nice damage and blinds them, when maxed, for 2,5 seconds. Very useful in top/bot lane, because those are usually the lanes, where autoattack champions play. You can autoattack them and laugh at them, because they won't hit a single autoattack. Midlane this is only useful for some damage, because all Midlaners use their skills to kill you, not their autoattacks.


Move Quick (W)

Passive: Teemo's Movement Speed is increased by 10/14/18/22/26% unless he has been damaged by an enemy champion or turret in the last 5 seconds.

Active: Teemo sprints, gaining twice his normal bonus for 3 seconds. This bonus is not lost when struck.

This is your escape/chasing ability. The active is like a mini [Ghost]. Only very few champions (like Master Yi and Singed) can match with you in terms of speed thanks to this ability.


Toxic Shot (E)

Teemo's basic attacks poison their target, dealing 10/20/30/40/50 (+0.3 AP) magical damage upon impact and 6/12/18/24/30 (+0.10 AP) magical damage each second for 4 seconds.

This ability is the reason, why you will do tons of damage. You can autoattack, run, autoattack, run and really annoy your opponent with this, cause they are unable to catch up to you and you do quite a lot of damage with just a few autoattacks.

This ability is also great for last-hitting minions. Thanks to the poison you will get almost every single last-hit.


Noxious Trap (R)

Uses a stored mushroom to place a trap that detonates if an enemy steps on it, spreading poison to nearby enemies that slows movement speed by 30/40/50% and deals 200/325/450 (+0.8 AP) magic damage over 4 seconds. Traps last 10 minutes, Teemo can store a maximum of 3 traps on his at once.

These are the feared shrooms of death. Low live champions will fear brushes, because usually people teleport themselves back to base in brushes, because they don't want to be seen by any opponent. It happened so often that, when I was in base I suddenly heared:,, You have slain an enemy". Make sure to place your shrooms in high-traffic areas and you will see.

But the Noxious Traps do also have another awesome effect: They are like wards. You don't have to buy any wards (except Vision Wards for Baron and Dragon). Place them near buffs and on possible waysof the enemie jungler so your team knows, where he is. You will be able to avoid most ganks with this.

You also can use Noxious Traps to initiate a fight or a duel. You place the shroom...than draw the attention of an enemy and lure them into the shroom. The shroom will slow them and hurt a lot. Afterwards you blind them with Blinding Dart and autoattack them to death. ,,You have slain an enemy!"

I max Toxic Shot first, because this is our main damage source.

Next I max Move Quick, because the movementspeed bonus is amazing and you need it to chase people/escape ganks.

Last I max Blinding Dart, because we only need this to blind the enemy you are facing and a point in it at level 3 does the job fine. The other abilities are more important to max first.

Noxious Trap is your ulti, so put a point into it, whenever you can.

Items

This item is great for Teemo. It gives ou a decent amount of AP, some cooldown reduction and lot's of attackspeed. This is the first big item I get, because it increases your damage a lot.

I take these boots, because of the magic penetration they provide (my personal favourite on Teemo). You may take Berserker's Greavesinstead, if you like to have more attackspeed instead of magic penetration or Mercury's Treads, if your facing an heavy AP team or the enemy team has lots of CC.

Thanks to this you will clear minion waves extremely fast. But the reason you get this items is to increase your multikill potential a lot. Who doesn't like to get multikills? Runaan's Hurricane does apply on-hit effects such as your poison from Toxic Shot. With this item you won't just do tons of damage to single enemy, but up to 3 enemies simultaneously. This will make you an enormous threat in team-fights.
I get this item after Nashor's Tooth, because you first need some AP to deal some damage.

This item gives you the most AP in game. Every AP get's this, because it is so incredibly strong. It will give you a gigantic boost in terms of damage.

Once you get this item, people will start to fear your shrooms even more, because your Noxious Traps slow the enemies and the passive of Liandry's Torment will apply the doubled burning damage. This will deal A LOT of damage.
I get this after Rabadon's Deathcap, because I like to get more AP first. If you get this before Rabadon's Deathcap your damage output won't be that high.

Another very awesome item. It gives 120 bonus AP and 50 armor. The armor will give you a bit more sustain, but the main reason, you get this is for the AP and for it's unique active. It will make you untargeable and invulnerable. Great live saver. You can get Guardian Angel instead, if you like. It revives you upon death, but only every 5 minutes. The unique active of Zhonya's Hourglass has a 90 seconds cooldown. So...in the end Zhonya will save you more often, unless you forget to activate the active in time.

Lane matchups

Top lane

: Careful, OP! Once he hits level 2 he has the potential to kill you right away. Becareful not to be grabed by him with his Apprehend. The key to win this lane is to force him out of lane as soon as possible by poking him constantly, but with caution. Be careful about ganks, because Darius can set up ganks very well with his grab, so don't push to hard. Once he hits level 6...if he lands his full combo your are dead, because Noxian Guillotine does shocking amounts o damage to a little squishy Teemo.

Difficulty: 7/10

: The lane is as good as won. He can't grab you or something like this so you can poke him like hell without receiving anything in exchange. But you have to push him frequently, because otherwise he is just going to heal himself thanks to his passive Perseverance. You will automatically push the lane, because of your strong poke he is only able to farm beneath his turret. So be careful of ganks. Once he hits level 6, be a bit more careful, because his ult Demacian Justice, just like Darius ult Noxian Guillotine does shocking amounts of damage to a squishy little Teemo.

Difficulty: 2/10

: In this case it is totally depending on who plays smarter and better. Try not to get poked too much and keep the lane a bit closer to your turret, but not close enough, so that your turret steals you some farm. This will enable your jungler to gank the enemy Teemo. You win this lane, if you farm better and outsustain him in lane. You can't kill him yourself, unless he is stupid. Call for ganks.

Difficulty: 5/10

: He doesn't stand a chance against your power of cuteness. His only ranged skill is his Slow Mega Adhesive and to land his Fling he has to get extremely close to you. Pre 6 he will not be able to do that, because you are faster than him. Once he hits level 6 he matches your speed. If uses his slow in the right time...well...you are dead.

Difficulty: 3/10

I have never run this match up, but I think this one is very dangerous. She can poke you well, unless you constantly blind her with Blinding Dart.
I think pre 6 a fight would end up in a draw. I would recommend playing defensive against her, because she really does a lot of damage right from the start. She is a natural pusher with her Righteous Fury, so call for early ganks. This will hopefully shut her down. Once she hits level 6 Kayle will become extremely dangerous for you. If you have pushed the lane a bit too far she slows you with Reckoning and follows up with Righteous Fury. If you should make it back to your tower, she can tower dive with ease using her ult Intervention. She won't suffer any damage at all for a short period of time, but that's more than enough to kill a low live Teemo. Place some Noxious Traps near/behind the turret, so she will be slowed and can't get away.

Difficulty: 10/10

So you are facing the Grand Duelist. Well...pre 6 most of her damage comes from her autoattacks so you will be save thanks to Blinding Dart. Once she hits level 6, be extremely careful. She can double gap-close you with Lunge and then ult you with Blade Waltz. Due to the fact that she is untargeable during her ult, she can towerdive you with ease. Even, if you are full-life...you will not survive this combo. The only thing you can do is stand behind your turret and farm as good as possible. Call for ganks to shut her down.

Difficulty: 7/10

Easy match up. You counter him thanks to Blinding Dart. Past 6 this won't change. His ult Undying Rage only allows him to stay alive a bit longer. Don't push to hard, because otherwise you will get ganked.

Difficulty 2/10



Mid lane

Pre 6 you out-poke her, but once she hits level 6 go to your turret and stay there. She can instakill you with Summon: Tibbers and her stun up. Call for ganks.

Difficulty: 9/10

Same like Annie. Pre 6 you out-poke him, but be careful of his stun Event Horizon. He can deal quite a lot of damage to you right after having all his 3 basic abilities. After 6 same like Annie. Be extremely cautious. Call for ganks.

Difficulty: 9/10

You are against an AP Master Yi? He can poke you quite well with his Alpha Strike and farm at the same time. Thing is, he can't kill you with just a Alpha Strike. Be careful, when you are getting low life. When he hits level 6, he can tower-dive with ease thanks to the insane amount of bonus movementspeed his ult Highlander grands.
Ganks need to kill him, because otherwise he will just run to his tower and heal himself with Meditate.

Difficulty: 7/10

Don't get hit by her Javelin Toss / Takedown. This ability can one-shot you. So move a lot and try to stand behind minions to avoid this. If she misses her spear...poke her like hell. You win this lane, if you manage to avoid her spears and poke her frequently.

Difficulty: 4/10

This is an interesting match up. He is meelee, so you can rely annoy him with your autoattack harrass. He will harrass you back with Null Sphere, but in the end you will do more damage to him than he does to you (only pre 6), because you are not spell relianed, but autoattack relianed, so you don't care about the silence. Pre 6 play very aggressive and call for ganks to shut him down. Once he reaches level 6, be very carefully. If he manages to land his entire burst, you are a dead Teemo. If not, hit him with everything you have. He will probably loose to you.

Difficulty: 6/10

This matchups depends on how good you are at dodging skillshots. If you are bad at dodging skillshots, pray for mercy - if you are good at dodging skillshots you outpoke him so hard, that you will easily force him out of the lane.

Difficulty: 4/10 (if good at dodging skillshots) / 10/10 (if bad at dodging skillshots)

Talon is an AD midlaner. What you have to do is playing defensive against this guy, because he is made to kill squishies like you. You have to poke him with Blinding Dart, because otherwise he will jump on you, silence you leaving you unable to do something against his Noxian Diplomacy. [[Noxian Diplomacy empowers his next autoattack, so causing it to miss is crucial. If can't hit you with it, you will be safe from a lot of damage. Call for ganks to shut him down.

Difficulty: 8/10

Pre 6 you are save. She can only harras you with Mark of the Assassin. But she can du it frequently, because she uses energy instead of mana. Once she hits level 6, you can't do sh*t against her. If she gets 3 stacks on Shadow Dance, you can run as fast as you want...she will close every gap towards you. Barrier is highly recommended here, because it helps you absorb some damage from her ult. Stay behind your turret, so she can not easily tower dive you.
She can avoid ganks thanks to the invisibility granted by Twilight Shroud.

Difficulty: 10/10

Almost the same like Akali. Pre 6 you are pretty save, but her harrass is very nice, because she doesn't use mana nor enegry. She can spam Bouncing Blades to poke you and farm at the same time. Once she hits level 6, it becomes very dangerous for you. She dan Shunpo behing you (she will take reduced damage) and follow with her ult Death Lotus. You need Barrier to survive this, because otherwise you will be killed everytime she uses this combo. Use Barrier and activate Move Quick to get out of her ult range in time.
She can avoid ganks with her Shunpo by just jumping on to one of her minions. Call for ganks that bring CC like a silence or a stun.

Difficulty: 9/10



Bot lane

Quinn has a medium early game. But, and that is very important, she can be very dangerous. Her passive Harrier does hurt A LOT right from the beginning. She also can blind you with Blinding Assault. If you have a cross like symbol above you, get away from her or Blinding Dart her immediately, because otherwise she will trigger Harrier and you will suffer a lot of damage. After hitting level 6, she matches your speed thanks to Tag Team. Be careful, because she is one of the very few ADCs who can win against you.

Difficulty: 7/10

Pre 6 you outduel her so hard. Play aggressive and poke her a lot. When reaching level 6, she has the potential to kill you with her ult Bullet Time. So don't engage her, if you are not full-life.

Difficulty: 4/10

He can poke you a lot with Mystic Shot. Stay behind your minions and you will be save. If you start poking him much, he will start playing more defensive, meaning, he will be last-hitting minions with Mystic Shot. This way, you won't be able to poke him, but he also won't be able to poke you. So...this is a farming lane. If he is playing defensive, becareful of ganks, because the minion wave will be closer to his turret. Be careful of his ult Trueshot Barrage. He can snipe you and kill you, if you are low life.

Difficulty: 3/10

This lane is fairly easy. Pre 6 you outduel her. Once hitting level 6 she can initiate a duel with Enchanted Crystal Arrow by stunning you, hiting you with Volley and than autoattack you. Thing is, she will loose these fights. She hits you with her ult, fires her Volley at you and than you blind her with Blinding Dart and autoattack her to death. She can't really win against you. But, like Ezreal she can snipe you with her ult, if you are low on health.

Difficulty: 2/10

This is the hardest match up you can get on bot lane. She has a good harrass ability with Piltover Peacemaker and she can outpoke you with her autoattacks as well thanks to her enormous range (kinda obvious, because she is using a sniper). She will try to poke you down and, when hiting level 6, shoot you with Ace in the Hole. This is one of the match ups, where I would recommend taking Barrier instead of Ignite, because the shield really helps you a lot against her.

Difficulty: 8/10

Varus has great dueling capabilities thanks to his Blighted Quiver and his ult Chain of Corruption. He can poke you well and savely with Piercing Arrow, so make sure to dodge as often as possible. But you should be out-poking him, cause your autoattack harras is more efficient. If he manages to hit you with his ult, as soon as the stun is over, bling him with Blinding Dart. I think, most fights will end in a draw. The key of killing him is luring him into your Noxious Traps, so he won't be able to escape and he will suffer quite a lot of damage.

Difficulty: 6/10
