His girlfriend was 19 when he posted the pics. There was no felony technically committed - just a lack of respect to his s.o.

Leaking nude pictures of someone without their consent is still a crime, pretty sure.

EDIT: If it's not the lady in charge of the sexual harassment seminar I was required to go to this week (for one of my jobs) was entirely misinformed. X-X

I have been thinking about taking this argument to a new perspective since it's just going in circles right now.

Now XJ9 wasn't playing League at the highest level of competitive play when he got banned, but he did have the potential to get there.

Riot wants their game to be recognized and treated no different then professional sports. I mean seriously you can get a passport visa just to play League of Legends now. So it makes sense that they are treating it's professional players no different then the NFL, NHL, NBA, ETC, players are treated; when one of these players break the rules or have troubles with the law, they receive a punishment that sometimes has an effect on their professional careers. Anyone remember Michael Vick? or that cheating scandal with Tiger Woods? That one non golf related incident almost destroyed his golf career, or what about Tonya Harding? I am not comparing XJ9 to an actual athlete just making a compression since those past arguments and debates may shed some light on this one. I don't care enough about sports right now to google some links, but yeah you get the idea

Now a few things that baffle me with the case of XJ9, is the fact that he was not on a pro team at the time, He was not even old enough to compete at a pro level, since the last time I checked you needed to be at least 18 to compete in a LCS event. It's still strange to me that Riot goes as far as banning any account he plays on once they know that it belongs to him. I remember back in the day when "I will dominate" was banned for some of the very toxic things that he use to say to people, he also bashed his headset once on stage which was viewed as being very un-sportsmen like. He broke the rules and was suspended from playing at any LCS event for something like two years or something? I'm not sure on that one, but I have no doubt that he was still playing the game without worry of being banned on the sport, while playing on a smurf account waiting out his punishment.

But every time someone says it's a legit reason to ban him because of his actions outside of League, there is someone who will say no it's not a legit reason. This conversation has been going on for years in other sports for other/similar reasons of breaking laws and rules.

From what I've gathered he would only of gotten as far as challenger/master solo queue rather than the LCS, mostly because of his selfish playstyle.
In that regard i guess Riot didn't want one of their higher ranked soloqueue playesr to have a crime under their neame, especially while streaing.

Basically MOBAFire.

I want to know what country you live in so I can avoid it because damn.
Are they seriously getting out after serving less than 7 years?

I'm also not saying that everyone who commits a crime should be banned (that would be impossible) but XJ9 was famous enough to get views so of course they had to do something. I'm not even sure how strict the ban was, because "on-sight" seems incredibly difficult to pull off.

No they serve more than 7 years. XJ9 didn't rape anyone though. According to Last Shadow you can get 2 years of jail for armed robbery.

The main reason he wasn't punished legally was because he was 16 at the time, the same age as his girlfriend.

Actually his girlfriend was either 18 or 19, people just assumed she was 16 because of XJ9's age. The girlfriend didn't take legal action, instead she decided to upload pictures of XJ9 himself and a video of him fapping(which were taken down very quickly). I mean you can't blame her but in the end she did much worse than XJ9 because XJ9 was underaged. According to some comments I've read, in some states it isn't even illegal to post nude pictures of someone thats 18+. This is one of many reasons to why XJ9 shouldn't be banned for more than 2 years for leaking the nudes. I agree with Last shadow in that had XJ9 been a girl doing this to her boyfriend people wouldn't even be mad at him after a few weeks.

Like i said earlier in this thread XJ9 was never banned for being a trashtalker, cause he really wasn't more toxic than the average soloqueue player(plus he literally hasn't typed in chat for over a year). He was banned for stupid decisions he made.

Now XJ9 wasn't playing League at the highest level of competitive play when he got banned, but he did have the potential to get there.

I think he would have made a good coach/analyst aswell. According to Last Shadow who talked with him extensively 6 months ago(because both XJ9 and Last shadow were coaches of SHC) XJ9 has a very intresting view of the game and how it should be played. And i think its why he has made this playstyle for himself that for example Meteos adopted(he stated himself that he got inspiration from XJ9) back when Meteos was called the god of jungling in NA.

You bring up some very good points and i agree with everything you say. But isn't a 2 year on-sight ban enough? I mean at the moment he gets harsher punishment than most proffesional athletes, and thats not even counting the fact that he's still being cyberbullied hard AND was 16 years old + has improved massively. Ban him from competitive play and I'm 100% fine with riot's decisions, but at the moment he isn't even allowed to play normal games/soloqueue let alone stream.

EDIT: sorry didn't read the second part of your post. You need to be 17 to compete in LCS. Don't quote me on this but i don't think IWD was banned for more than 1.5 years.
I was born nude but now i am dude

What did we learn from all of this? Don't send naked pictures of yourselves to your boyfriend/girlfriend (or anyone else for that matter).

I think Riot is just making an example out of a famous trash talker. We're talking about it now, don't we.
(Check out my guides, they're linked to their pictures!)

If I helped you in any way, that +REP is always nice^^

It's not that I think banning him is an appropriate punishment for breaking the law, it's that he did it in reaction to things related specifically to a game. He broke laws because he was pissed off about a game (which he should be prosecuted for), so why is it unsuitable to also not allow him to play said game anymore as well?

It's not. But it's not suitable to ban him permanently for such a thing. And besides, any such ruling would be better being made in court than by the makers of the game, to remove potential bias.

I don't understand people who defend xj9. Lets put aside leaking nudes and that story. He got into other person's account, spend currency, lost many ranked games with purpose to lose elo. He made countless threads on official forums with his usual ********, got banned from forums on many accounts. At one point he threatened RIOT employee, I think it was death threat.

If it was any other person than xj9, those actions would still result in permanent ban, so I don't see reason why should RIOT unban xj9. I think it's ok for game company to dictate who they ban and they had plenty of reasons to do so.
