Hi, im a unranked player at the moment and last season i ended up in silver 4, I played the 10 ranked games to get placed and I never played another game. This season I thought I was going to spend the whole season playing ranked, but whenever I jump into a ranked game I get nervous and play a lot worse than I should, make bad decisions in champ select and now out of 5 games i've won 1 game in my placement matches, just because i picked champions I was not comfortable with and then playing them even worse than I would in a normal game. I main support, I love thresh I think I have great potential, I have watched a lot of higher elo players and I always try to learn from my mistakes in game, I never rage and even if I do I will never flame or blame it on my teammates, so I just want to know what I should be thinking about when I get in queue and have a good mentality when I'm in game. Thanks in advance.

I often get anxiety which may come as a surprise. There are a few things that help me to lower and even get rid of the nerves. Firstly I find listening to music to be very helpful in calming me and taking some of my attention rather than being completely focused on the game. Listen to music that you like or that you find calming because you will feel more relaxed. Another thing that helps a lot for me is duoing with a friend and talking to them because again it can take your mind off of what is worrying you and calm your nerves. Even if it's just talking on Skype to someone while you play, it can definitely help. Lastly I can say that you should just keep playing and it will get better as you play more. You will feel most nervous in your initial game or 2 but after that you should start to get more comfortable and confident and for me it completely goes away after a few games, so hopefully it can for you too :)

Oh and ignore people that rage/flame you because it only makes it worse!

^ I agree with everything he said. If it gets really bad, it also doesn't hurt to just focus on your breathing during loading screen for a bit.

If it makes you feel any better. Just try to think that pros have to do the same thing at a much higher skill level, or they lose their job.

I had anxiety when I started doing normals, you just have to keep going at it. Eventually it doesn't phase you anymore.
