is the protobelt good item to use on malzahar as a mystic item or liandry torment better, what do you think and what you think about the luden echo too which one is more effective on malzahar builds, thanks.

Liandry's is the best mythic for Malzahar hands down. Half of his abilities do damage over time, which goes perfect with the item. You could probably "make" Luden's work, but you would be doing less damage. You definitely can't use Rocketbelt, as it gives no mana.

Small update for now, I will try to keep this up to date a little better, and matchups still need work. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to keep up with this, so the updates are a bit sporadic.

Most situations I would say no, but if you are going against someone who will clear waves much faster early, then you might take it 2nd.

Would the tear be a better starting item than dorans ring? Malzahar burns out mana relatively quick

Hi Mikifire,

I don't think so. I don't believe there's room in the build for Archangel's Staff. Plus, Doran's Ring does give mana back when you kill a minion.

Early on you will want to try and manage your mana. I don't really bother trying to use E on minion waves until at least level 3. Try to master farming using only basic attacks. Focus on staying safe and getting enough gold for Lost Chapter. I do occasionally use E + Q on the enemy laner if it's free, but often times a kill isn't possible this early on, so you're better off saving your mana.

Your guide looks amazingly cool. Man it is really good guide and the effort and the time you have spent in it may well be weeks. Why you are not updating this guide? You have so many votes and views on this one. Why you have forsaken ;/. Please, Jnewbringspain, update your guide about malzahar and let the malzahar main players enjoy it

To all those wondering why I no longer update the guide, I have not forgotten. However, if I'm being honest, my love for Malzahar has fallen off a lot since his remake. Following the remake he has additionally taken considerable nerfs in all areas. Simply put, I really don't play him much anymore. I do on occasion, but I am currently awaiting some fixes. He just is not as fun to play as he was pre-remake. I do plan on eventually updating the guide and staying on top of it, but I need to play him consistently again to do so.

Is this still a good build as of now?

Hi is this item build still applicable? I usually go Athene's as the first item for overall stats. CDR + Mana = sustain in lane rather than teardrops/seraph. Is this item build still applicable in the current meta? I see that ROA is no longer being used as a first item. If I were to follow this in a perfect world, the item build would be: Rylai > Sorcerer's boots > archangel (after max stack for tear) > Raba > liandry > hg (in that order).

Any tips?

Additional info:
My current build goes: Athene's > boots > Rylai > Liandry's > HG/Raba > HG Raba (I also switch to abyssal/banshee if its a full AP enemy team). Thanks for your input guys.

Hi,

I do not build Athene's, mostly because the item has such low AP output now. The best thing about that item is the CDR, but I do not think CDR is necessary on Malzahar. The magic resist is minimal, and the regen stats are not great either. I would say this is not a viable item.

Also, I noticed in your build you typically take HG. I would try to replace that item with Void Staff if possible. Hourglass is a viable item in certain situations, but Malzahar already has built in defense with his passive, and there are much better offensive items you could utilize.

Okay, it has been updated. I will get around to having an actual picture of my mastery tree up to make things simpler to look at. I just haven't had the time to do so lately.

Mistake for sure. The mastery planner wasn't really working properly when I was updating the guide, so I'm not surprised it happened. I will correct it. Looking at it now, there's more than one mistake on the mastery page.
