I'm quite sure we have people out there who are very knowledgeable about phones.

I'm considering switching from Samsung into Oneplus but I can't decide between Oneplus 1 and Oneplus 2.
Oneplus 1 is 249€ and Oneplus 2 is 329€. As far as I know, the only major difference is the processor
but I'm not sure if I want to pay the extra for it.

Opinions on Oneplus 1 vs Oneplus 2?

Also the software, GPU, type of RAM, dual sim functionality, fingerprint reader, USB type-C and some further camera enhancements. Besides that, it's slightly smaller and it's easier to change the back cover for customization. Those aren't particularly major things but they add up quickly.

Personally I find the software part to be quite major, the One runs 4.4.4 on Cyanogenmod and the Two runs 5.0 on OxygenOS out of the box. The One will no longer recieve Cyanogenmod updates after 5.0 because of a clash between CM and OnePlus, which for me is a pretty big deal (extra updates also include extra security patches).

If I were to pick one, I'd go for the Two right now (although I already have the One), but I'd recommend to wait till some reviews turn up so you can really make a proper judgement of the improvements. I'm figuring it won't be more than a month before the first reviews air.

On the other hand, the Two will probably be somewhat harder to get due to the invites. Do keep that in mind.

I was 100% sure there was a phone thread but I couldn't find it. Accident has already happend so I guess I won't ask this to be removed.

I heard the Snapdragon 810 in Oneplus 2 overheats quickly which is my main concern at the moment. Also, just checked the shipping cost of Oneplus 1 and it's a whopping 43€ so the total cost would actually be around 300€ for the 16GB version. I remember people ordering it with 20€ shipping so I wonder what happend there.

According to Oneplus and Snapdragon, the new revision of the 810 (I think 2.0 or 2.1) doesn't have these overheating problems any more. As mentioned above, as this is only a statement from both manufacturers I'd wait till reviews from both so you can better judge what's the best buy.

The software out of the box isn't all that bad. CM 12/5.0 was released at March so the upgrade should be easy, even if he does get the OTA he can still flash the ROM. Personally I don't enjoy Oxygen OS. It feels TOO minimal and reminds me of stock 5.0 too much. At the moment I'm using Exodus and am pretty happy with it.

The OP2 is really nice but like Vynertje said, it may be harder to get the invites, especially since One Plus gained a lot of fame this year.

My vote would be the One Plus One, It's a really great phone, the price is really good and it's not that far behind from the One Plus Two, rooting is easy and very much worth it, and overall it is a very nice phone and definitely one of the best phones on the market

1+1, IF you're willing to install a ROM on it. If you don't wanna tinker then I think I'd honestly recommend staying away from Oneplus altogether.
The 1+2 is using the inefficient SD810 (read more below) and is lacking NFC, which is becoming a more important feature with every day that passes. It boggles my mind that they had NFC in the 1+1, but skipped it for the 1+2. Even Apple jumped on the NFC train with the iP6.

Oneplus' support has a horrible track-record and they seem to have had serious digitizer driver problems with the 1+1 (at least they claim that it's the drivers, not everybody experienced these, but it was a fairly common issue).

Then there are also fiascos like these:

Regardless of what you choose it might be worth waiting to see what the Nexus devices will bring to the table.
They usually release in November.
The rumors say that there will be two phones. One 5.7inch phone made by Huawei and one 5.2inch phone made by LG. Which bodes well, because LG's last Nexus (5) was amazing.
The 5.2inch LG phone is rumored to be a cheaper option, opting for a price in the 300-400$ region.
All Nexus phones are made in cooperation between some large manufacturer and Google. Google helps with the design parts and handle the software, which is one of the big selling points of a Nexus.

Not really a big problem.
What is a problem with the SD810 chip however is the horrible efficiency.
The chip is actually a step back compared to the SD805.
The battery life is significantly worse in the 1+2 compared to the 1+1. And many other phones display similar patterns. Samsung has mostly solved the issue with the task hand-off of the BIG.little architecture, but Qualcomm hasn't (yes, Samsung makes chips, like Qualcomm, and they both base the designs on the designs ARM release). I'd honestly recommend staying away from Snapdragon 810 and wait until Qualcomm sort their **** out. The Snapdragon 800-805 were amazing chips, class-leading in both performance and efficiency, but man did they screw the poodle on the 810 chip (808 is bad too, just not quite as bad).

The revision has been tested. Heat is not a big problem.
Efficiency is still garbage tho.

Yeah, pretty much.
Thanks for posting the links.

Motorola's Moto G is pretty good if you don't need the top-of-the-line stuff.
Google has a job title called "Head of Black Community Engagement"..

Thanks for the opinions. I'll check the phones mentioned above and see if I can take a liking of them.
