I don't see the argument for perseverance in masteries, death's dance over other lifesteal options, taking Maw as last item vs heavy ap and suggesting E max second over Q, when E second is ideal only to specific matchups.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I overlooked your comment. Perseverance is something I'll run in harder matchups. I generally run 18/12. But if I'm vs Riven or something rough I might run 18/0/12. Perseverance isn't big but sometimes that little bit of hp you get wins you the 1v1. I saw Revenge would run it on fiora and camille and I have tried it some on Jax and it's decent. I agree Death Dance prob isn't the best on Jax. I haven't played a lot lately and I had some good early success with it. But over my recent games I would agree you are prob better off with BOTRK or Gunblade. I liked deathdance for teamfighting b/c of the dmg mitigation and cdr. If enemy team has 4 ap for instance I don't see many items better than spirit visage and maw on Jax due to banshee veil changes, what would you suggest? E 2nd is a preference for me b/c it's Jax's key ability. You live or die on Jax based on how well you use counter strike and if you have it up more often it helps. Q max 2nd is obv strong as well but it's not my preference. I do max q first vs ranged champs tho.

Maw itself is fine but not as a last item. The shield is more impactful the sooner the item is purchased.

Nice guide, won me 4 ranked games, after then I called it a day xD. By the way, if you're a jungle Jax main, is removing the jungle item viable? I made an aoe build, and I heal a lot just by hitting minions.

Thanks and good stuff. I main top, jungle is my secondary though. On average I don't finish the jungle item. I start machete then just go my normal jax build getting tiamat first for good clear and decent ganks.

But on late game you remove your jungle item? (mine is cinderhulk)

I generally don't make it to full build on jungle jax. If I do I just do what feels right. I would most likely sell my jungle item for something else. If I felt I need challenging smite for a particular 1v1 I would prob upgrade it to bloodrazor tho.

Plat Jax main checking in! I really like your ghost idea over flash since you already have wall hop, that's pretty genius and I'll definitely have to try it. What are your thoughts on deadman's after triforce + tp over ignite for a more split push oriented build? Also, do you think a 18/0/12 page is as viable as 18/12/0 for more laning stats?

Thanks for the feedback. TP over ignite is fine if you want to split push. I would just make sure you group mid to late game whenever your TP is down. As for Deadman's I would only get it as a 2nd item if I wanted to teamfight a lot and the enemy team has a lot of AD. If you want to split push then Titanic Hydra would push lanes faster, Yomuu's Ghostbladee would push towers faster, and Hextech Gunblade is a good item for tower diving in my experience. I would recommend one of those 3 based off your playstyle and what you would like to do. As for your masteries 18/0/12 is perfectly fine. I usually only do it in harder matchups but you can do it in any matchup. It will put your TP/Ghost on shorter cooldowns so you can split more and make more plays.

Rather decent, ghost+ignite is a bit questionable but nonetheless, great guide! Also, could you please add singed in the match ups section? I know he's not really popular, but he's a pain in the *** every single time i go up against him. Anyway, thanks for teaching me a few things about Jax :)

Thanks for the feedback, glad I could help. As for how to play against singed I'm as lost as you. As many games as I've had on Jax I have only played a handful of games vs Singed. I'll add him up there though and my thoughts on what I have tried.

Could you please add some more popular match-ups? sth like Darius, Gnar,Yasou, Garen etc

and what is with Rageblade? is it not a good item for jax anymore?

Thanks for the feedback and yeah I will add some of those match-ups. In my personally opinion rageblade is terrible on Jax. Not only is it expensive but it is weak when it isn't stacked, it takes to long to stack it in a teamfight, and it's to hard to keep it stacked in a teamfight. I think there are too many other items that help Jax more. The only way I could see rageblade as viable is if you plan to just split push. Even then I have had more success with things like titanic hydra so I can push waves faster, gunblade so I can dive better, and yommuus takes towers really fast.

Why should I take ghost over flash? and are there situations where I should take tp? (Im a agressive player)

You don't have to take ghost over flash but I prefer it in most cases because it allows you to stick to opponents better while you can use your Leap Strike to gap close or get away. It also has a much shorter cooldown. However if the enemy team has a lot of slows I prefer to run flash because slows counter ghost. This is just my logic and it works pretty well for me but feel free to use what your comfortable and what makes more sense to you. I am also a very aggressive player although I understand you have to play some matchups really safe. Although you can run TP and look for teleport plays I usually still run ignite and either wait for my opponent to mess up or I wait for a gank.

Hi, I watched the Jax videos on your Youtube channel. Man you are good with this champion, you really opened my eyes to some ways to play him better.

I liked your full game commentary on that Jax v. Ekko game where you took Stormraiders. It's a very good tutorial, all your decisions very well explained and some genius trading against the Ekko. (I specially liked where you caught and explained the Ekko's jump-flash-stun trick.)

I'd actually be very interested to see what you think of starting as your first item in place of Trinity Force. I saw you took this as the third item in one of your videos, but I think it's a viable first item on Jax in top lane, the main advantage being the lower gold cost so you can have the completed item sooner. For example, it's a stronger item than the three Tri-Force components individually, if you don't have enough gold yet to complete Tri-Force, and I actually think that when you count its active, it's about as strong overall as Tri-Force. Obviously the active gives attack speed for all-ins, and movement speed similar to Ghost, so you could take this with Ignite and Teleport as your summoners, maybe.

So I just made a new video where I rush Youmuu's and I gave my feedback on it. It is on my Plat smurf though, so just keep that in mind. I have had a lot of success on it so far but I have yet to try it on my main. If you have any more questions or suggestions just let me know.

My take on Youmuu's is it helps you to establish dominance early, because the enemy doesn't normally build armor first - even Serrated Dirk gives you armor pen - and because of the power spike when it's completed. Once you've established that dominance, you start to snowball. The movement speed is also nice, as your video showed at 21:30.

I've tried it in one or two games, it seems to have everything Jax needs. You will keep some kind of boots, obviously, until you are ready to build Luden's Echo as the 6th item (if the game lasts that long).

Are you still keeping this guide up to date?
It really helped me not so long ago but im starting to fall back in lanes now a days

No, I have been busy lately. I will be updating it more today and in the future now. If you have questions about specific match ups just ask and I will put something up here on it. I have also been testing a lot of things out on my smurfs and by the end of the week I will come up with a specific core item/mastery build.
