if im against a tanky team and im top do i buy dusk blade, or settle for black cleaver

Tanky teams are pretty rare at the moment. Usually people get fairly beefy from Tabi/Resolve/Health and are bruisers instead of tanks. In that case you still go DB second.

Against proper tanky players (with a full armour item at the least) then yes you'll go cleaver second and instead get duskblade third.

Innately tanky champions who can survive or return his level of poke.

Lissandra and Urgot probably stand out as the biggest 2 problems.

Lissandra forces Jayce to buy magic resistance and maybe a QSS whilst also going aftershock to become really hard to kill. In lane she's ranged as well so isn't as susceptible to poke like other matchups.

Urgot just has so much presence in lane and can have both TP and Ignite (thanks to spellbook) making it very difficult to shut him down and all in him.

Do you think Dark Harvest is viable in Jayce? Great guide btw.

It's ok, but Aery/Electrocute are better.

When it got reworked initally it was much better because and would proc it, making it very easy to proc on Jayce. However with the removal of that, the nerfs to damage and general power shift Aery/Electrocute are better.

Hey, how come that even tough dorans blade is his starter item you never recommend that against any of his matchups?

It's a one size fits all starting item. I without a doubt should add it to the text portion of the guide and i'll be doing so next patch.

The matchups section has all the specific best starting options, but DBlade is good into everyone but isn't often the best into anyone.

In my opinion, yes. He's not the hardest (Draven/Azir/GP/Yasuo are harder when balanced) but he's for sure up there.

I'd rate him a 8/10 if 1/10 is sona, 5/10 is Lucian, 10/10 is Azir.

The guide is great. Unfortunately in silver this is only good for winning laning fase, I can't manage to carry any game as Jayce (probably my fault).

When do you build Tear ?

Personally? Very rarely. I think proper mana management from W and just not spamming spells 24/7 makes tear less useful.

However I do buy it in games where I'm the only teams waveclear AND im against a tank top. (So I'm vs a Maokai and my team has a fizz mid, ADC Draven and jungle rek'sai for example) so I'm our teams poke and wave clear, then the mana is needed to perm spam Q E.
