********'s a pretty good fertilizer
A long time ago I wanted to get one of my friends into league of legends.
I was almost level 30, and didn't much care for people playing on smurf accounts, so when my friend made her account and finished going through the tutorials, I started up a normal game with her on my normal account (I was against the idea of making a smurf account, and decided that it was "anti-fun").
We didn't actually know about the mute command, and a teammate was so rude to my friend that she stopped playing and hasn't wanted to give league another try. I think that was the rudest person (most toxic, I guess) I can think of.
Sorry to put a damper on what looks like it was such a fun thread... but OP wanted to know.
P.S. I haven't tried introducing another person brand new into the game again, but if I do, I think I'll make a smurf to play with them, and I'll take it super easy to give them the real "new player" experience.

My 3 rules of gaming:
1. If your game starts to feel too much like work, play a different game.
2. Have fun
3. If your idea of having fun is ruining somebody else's fun, find a different way to have fun.
