Instead of "Back to Top" you say "Back to Toc"

ToC stands for Table of Contents, which is at the top of the guide. :P

This guide got me an S rank on Elise and I hadn't played her in well over a year. Very nicely done.

Hey guys, did some shuffling around of some items in light of patches 8.4 and 8.5. It's a little complicated since a variety of factors in game can affect which items you need when, but Morellonomicon seems to be a pretty reliable choice and the rest of the items in the cheatsheet are useful enough of the time that you should be okay if you mix and match a bit.

Keep an eye on the enemy team composition and items to decide whether to build to solo-kill people with burst damage or provide more utility for your team to take them down. Pick up Void Staff once you start to see magic resist items on 2 or 3 enemies. Hope you guys like the update.

Just want to say you make awesome guides and I absolutely love elise so much .. I have one question to ask you though .. You said you were not a fan of rylai's on november 14 2017 when you were asked the question '' where is rylais'' but then you said you think its not that bad but then u said after that u think its not core and its not great before liandrys torment but i know they made changes to rylais in this 8.4 patch so can you explain why rylais is core now ..apparently you changed your idea of rylais and i saw you even excluded the hextech probelt on a whole form the build .. you should have explained the changes in guide

Hey Xxplick, thanks for your comment. I understand the confusion so I'll try my best to answer your question. First, I'd like to quickly explain why I don't explain every change to the guide. The vast majority of readers don't have MOBAFire accounts and don't vote or comment, so I tailor my guides to be the most useful to someone who just opened it for the first time. If people (like yourself) are curious about certain shifts or changes over time, I'm happy to answer questions in the comments, but I don't want to bog down the guide with a history and explanation of changes I make to the build.

Okay onto Rylai's. The buff in 8.4 certainly helps, but I actually had this item in the cheatsheet before that. Liandry's Torment was also changed and the burn is quite a bit stronger now that it's based off % max HP instead of current HP. Comboing these two items means you can burn enemies for 2% of their max HP per second.

These changes aside, the main reason I shifted my build focus on Elise slightly away from burst towards this Rylai's+Liandry's combo is because I feel she simply falls off too quickly compared to other junglers in terms of pure damage and kill potential. Rylai's+Liandry's scales better because it offers a mix of utility (you can constantly slow people) and scaling damage (%hp damage is good throughout the game).

You can still have a really strong early game and get solo kills, but once teams start grouping, I feel this build is the most effective at contributing reliably in team fights. Without Liandry's, you're much more reliant on just your stun from Cocoon and pure damage output. With Liandry's, you become a more reliable source of damage and poke regardless of your total AP.

You could probably still build Sorcerer's Shoes, Hextech Rocketbelt and an Oblivion Orb and try to carry by bursting people, but in my experience it doesn't feel as reliable.

I'll still be playtesting the 8.4 changes (and future changes) and you'll probably see a few things change to my guides in the future, especially my Elise and Evelynn guides. For now, this is what I feel works best. Hope that helps.

Hey I was just wondering is it possible for Elise to play any other lanes then jungle
1
PsiGuard (1495) | January 28, 2018 1:36pm
Possible but I wouldn't recommend it. If you're just playing for fun, you could try her top or support. Her early game damage was nerfed a lot a long time ago because Riot didn't like her dominating solo lanes.

hi
do you think Guinsoo's Rageblade and Nashor's Tooth are good snow ball items? most of he items you mentioned are game recommended and kinda tanky items. or you think buying those is a good way to throw the game. the attack speed is very good on spider form.

PsiGuard (1495) | January 26, 2018 10:55am
I wouldn't recommend either. Elise's play pattern is pretty burst-oriented, so you'll often be able to deal 60-70% of someone's HP with one combo and then use the spider form attack speed to finish them off. There are very few situations where building attack speed would even be beneficial (basically pushing towers or doing baron, that's about it). In champion combat, you'll get more value out of AP, magic pen or defensive items.

Similarly to your wicked Rek'Sai guide, very impressive design and details, +1.

Super management of a complicate kit to explain with the 2 forms.
<3 the jungle chapters.

Keep the amazing work.

Where is Rylai's?
1
PsiGuard (1495) | November 14, 2017 5:49pm
Not a big fan of the item to be honest. You can go for Stalker's Blade if you want a slow. The main attraction of Rylai's is it makes your poke with Volatile Spiderling and Liandry's Torment stronger, but aside from that I don't feel like it makes a huge difference. Mostly I'd rather use that slot for Void Staff, Zhonya's Hourglass or Banshee's Veil.

If you want Rylai's Crystal Scepter, I'd skip Hextech Rocketbelt and just rush Liandry's Torment and Rylai's.

@ domi052 I changed my mind a bit on this after some more playtesting. Here are my thoughts on Rylai's.
  • Not as good as Liandry's Torment (should be built after)
  • I don't like skipping Hextech Rocketbelt because you'll have 0% CDR which sucks.
  • Not core, because playing without Rylai's still works well and sometimes you need other items more

I definitely did underestimate the item overall though. It's pretty nice if you don't desperately need Void Staff, Zhonya's Hourglass or Banshee's Veil.

Thanks for the question/suggestion! :)
