League of Legends (LoL) Question: Honor System

Honor System

Ever since the honor system changes at the start of season 8 (with the checkpoints and new rewards), I've been stuck at Honor level 2 with 3 checkpoints. I was honor 4 in the previous season and I feel like I was close to honor 5. I leveled up my honor very quickly; it only took me a week or two to go from honor 2 to honor 4. But, with this new patch, I have been stuck literally all season in honor 2 with 3 checkpoints. I get honors and I honor other players all the time, yet I can't seem to level up my honor whatsoever. Does anyone have a good understanding of the honor system and wish to explain this to me? Thanks :)

I am currently honor level 4, no checkpoints reached yet.
You can kind of track your progress because if you get enough honors there will be a pop-up when you open your client and log in.
It will say things like: 'Congratulations, 16 players enjoyed playing with you in your last 10 games. Here's a key.' Not in those words exactly, but I hope you get the point.
Most of the times I log in I get a key for the crafting system with a message like that. By that little bonus I can track that I am still getting honor experience. So I assume it is like that for other players as well.

RIOT explained that the honor leveling on the first release was calculated for the time until the end of the season so it was something like half a season instead of full season, so the honor leveling now should be X2 harder then last season and they maybe tuned it in addition. The checkpoints are there to show you that you still getting "exp" while the leveling it self is much longer. Just keep the good work and be patient. Good luck.
