Shen is a really fun champion to play and he is very versatile as to the roles and lanes he can play. The issue with him at the moment is he is fairly weak in duels after the first few minutes. This was done because his ult gives massive map pressure so if he was a good duelist he would be insane in pro play (This is what led to a lot his nerfs in the first place). In solo q he is largely team dependent. With the current state of the game though, it is hard to trust your team. That is why brusiers and dueling champs are the meta right now. This means that in order to be useful on Shen you need to be aggressive. Do this and you can win. PS Shen is getting buffs im 9.16 so that should help him be better into the brusier and tank matchups that he sometimes struggles into.

Thanks for your interest. With the new changes to the rune system, jungle Shen is a little harder to pull off, but with good game knowledge it can still be done. I went over the other optional rune choices in the Rune chapter of the guide. The Resolve or Domination secondary will probably serve you best now, although you can still run inspiration for the free boots. All in all, the reworked rune system opened the door to more secondary rune options for Shen. I still recommend sticking with PTA Precision for your primary tree since the damage it gives you is suprisingly large and will catch most enemies off guard, especially in the early game.

The difficulty with moving away from these runes is that they provide the clear speed that you need in to make Shen an effective jungler. The precision tree is essential to make this work. If you are going to swap runes you could really only swap the secondary tree. Resolve would be the obvious go to. I would run Conditioning and Revitalize in that case. Although I haven't tried it, you could run Domination with Ravenous Hunter and Sudden Impact. Like I said though, I recommend using the runes listed for the attack speed.

I enjoy this build because it is an off-meta way to play Shen. Your global ultimate makes this build absolutely awesome. The only issue is that Shen isn't great at most 1v1's. Ironically, his best matchup is against Xin Zhao. Thanks for your comments :)

Aftershock is a great rune on support Shen, but there are two main problems taking it on jungle Shen. The first is your early clear speed. The biggest challenge with jungle Shen is keeping a decent clear speed early. When you take Precision with Inspiration it gives a 21% attack speed bonus (18% from the trees and 3% from alacrity). It doesn't sound like a lot, but in practice it makes a huge difference. Secondly, if you are comboing correctly, Aftershock's bonus armor and magic resist is useless. Poping your W gives immunity from auto attacks. For an early invade, this is usually the only damage that a jungler has. Aftershock then ends at the same time as your W expires. Therefore you really only get the damage. Looking at this raw damage output, Press the Attack gives a much larger bonus and the armor reduction will help you deal more damage after your W and empowered Q expire. The problem is that if you see an invade you have to be the aggressor. If you taunt them and do a full combo you can easily win any early trade. I have destroyed a Xin Zhao when I had half health. The trick is ensuring that you begin with an empowered Q for the bonus attack speed and damage.

Your thoughts are good, but if you use this build you shouldn't need help from your laner.
