How is Ryze for a first time mid laner (usually top)? I'm thinking of picking up either him, Zed, or Kat, but I'm worried that he will be unforgiving and I will throw him away after 1-2 games.

just try him, you will have to play a bit safer in early but if you hit you q you will outdamage most champions in the late game scaling is stupid. really fun champ

Nice guide, I liked how you detailed everything without going too in-depth, makes it a nice guide to read during loading screen, but you could use some BBCode to make it more visual appealing. Nonetheless great guide, as an old game used to say: RYZE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

thank you tbh i think that all this visualisation is a little too much in some guides it just makes a small paragraph a lot bigger and harder too read but that is just my personal opinion

Why take Transcendence when you, normally, only build 1 cdr item? Why not celerity or Absolute Focus?

for the 40% cdr with bluebuff bc on ryze with his compared to other mages relative short range dps is a really important factor

By no means am I a high level ryze, but man is he fun to play. he is my favorite mage, simply because of his amazing kit. I'm still a novice when it comes to the skill but I love the guide and i love playing him

Would you ever recommend E first? If so, in what situation?

yes always its a good poke, its recommended in my guide too (if you meant q then no, and if you meant w yes sometimes you can go w first bc its the most dmg spell on lvl 1 but its cooldown is really high so if you are against a champ that doesnt push too much and that has to come in range and has high cd too you can go W, or if you go with the poke runes you can go w too if you feel like it )

Hello, I've been wanting to always and hopefully main Ryze, but always discouraged by the comments on how bad his winrate is. I really like Ryze and I usually do really good with him or worst scenario I'm a bit behind, but i've never hard fed somebody with him. I did really good recently, good 10/0/10 and taking multiple objectives and ultimately winning. I really love this guide, good job on it, but I had a question, what do you attribute Ryze's winrate to?

well it depends alot on general game knowledge and your ability to take the lead and carry with Ryze, and that is just practicing , and if you start playing Ryze more you dont have a bad winrate just when you beginn learning him or if you just play a game of Ryze for fun and dont main him you most likely have a bad winrate. So all in all to get a good winrate with Ryze is to practise him and to really know what you can do and what you cant.
