Really enjoyed your guide for Lux. Even if I'm a self declared Lux otp, I still managed to pick up some tips through this guide and applied tons of it towards my gameplay. Question about Everfrost, wouldn't it be better to pick up into match ups such as Leona/Rell/Alistar/any hard engage comp for the passive so you can disengage from fights you don't want or would it be better to nearly never build this item?

sorry this is like a year late - just now got my account back lol (was locked out due to social login shenanigans). anyways, as you've probably figured out for yourself by now, everfrost is almost never good on lux since the new crown mythic item thing was introduced, and any time you'd build something defensive like everfrost its probably better to build that!

What's your opinion on Athene's Unholy Grail? Some hate it, some love it, and some just ignore it.

*edit'd comment due to misreading of Athene's, plus aftershock lux invalidating my argument anyways*

Item has been mostly outclassed by Luden's for full AP builds, but a good item for a more support-oriented build. The reason Athenes used to be built (before AP item changes) was, among other things, as a defensive-oriented mana item (while morellonomicon was the offensive counterpart if memory serves me correctly). However now we have Luden's Echo, which fulfills the role of a mana item as well as being one of our core items, and Frostfang/Eye of the Watchers, which is another core item on Lux support which also gives us mana. Since there are always 2 mana items in our build, there's no need for Athenes.

Athene's procs off shield and aere as well, but does NOT make them stronger. What it does is turn 35% of your damage dealt into healing. With frostfang it gives 60 AP, as much as Ludens per gold. Luden's costs as much as Athene's + Sorcerer's Boots.

It's what you buy if you're broke, could use MR, or are trading in lane.

Hey,
you managed to create such a great and comprehensive guide. It's really nice and easy to read and there's so many in-depth explanations that help understanding how to play Lux.
Maybe you could add some tips on how to play against her counters or what might be nice combos with other champs on your team?
Anyway keep up your good work! :)

Glad you liked the guide!
I've been meaning to add a matchups section for a long time. Unfortunately I just never got around to learning how to format it properly (and I don't want to do it with *just* text since that would be a massive textblock no matter how many paragraph breaks I use). I'll try to get something started over the next few weekends though (assuming work doesn't eat up all of my time!)

Yeah, that makes sense. I wouldn't put it all together just in one large text.
I've seen other guide makers who solved that kind of problem by either creating a drop down menu or you could try to make categories like "assassin", "tank" or whatever fits best in your opinion. Or you try to actually group champions that can be countered in some similar way - like Thresh & Blitz.
But whatever you decide on, I'm sure you'll find a good way. (:

Hey, thanks, this is a nice guide! I'm trying to learn Lux support and I'm very much in low elo. One thing for the Light Binding bush-checking tip section- if you're taking Summon Aery as your keystone, you can check bushes with Q and if it hits your Aery will proc and fly away from you. That might be easier to see than a Spellthief's proc :P Anyways, thank you, this was really helpful :)

That's true! I haven't updated that part of the guide since new runes, so I'll add that in. Thanks for the catch!

Thank you for writing a guide specifically aimed at the Lower Elo crowd since i am in that group. Some of these guides are definitely aimed at higher ELO and i am unable to perform a lot of the mechanics and ideas that they are preaching. And all that some of us are looking for is Build list and why we're buildign that. What skills we shoudl take and in what order.
But the biggest thing i like is that you can explain why you put certain things in your fuie.
You dont just put these items in but explain them. Thanks again for a n awesome guide.

Thanks, I'm glad that you find it helpful! Playing at low elo can definitely get frustrating and I believe that player in low elo deserve tailored advice rather than diamond players telling them to "cs better" or whatever else over and over again (:

glad to hear it's been working well for you! I like Sorcery + Precision runes a lot too, although I generally reserve em for when I'm playing mid :)

Thank you for this ^~^
I'm just starting to play Lux, so this is great.

I hope it helped! Just updated runes today, but I'm still pretty hyped to try out all the other combinations.

I was a game away from Silver this season, but I got hit with a couple int feeders in a row after a 10-game winstreak. Sadtimes ;-; preseason is a great time to get ready to win as many placements as you can tho!

very useful guide, but it's hard to get out of bronze because there are so much noobs,it's hard to carry alone a match

It is very hard, and you need to hope your teammates cooperate and listen to your shotcalling, but really as long as you consistently perform well you will win more games than you lose. Especially if you find a good duoQ partner!
