i recommend you dont do referrals or any kinds of advertisements. people will see these things and they will be discouraged to read your blog because of it. stay away from Ads (even your own) when you are just starting to blog.
another thing is try to make the post smaller and cleaner to read, so the front page doesnt look messy. you can use jumpbreaks in blogspot to do this (so longer posts will be shown as "read more...").

Thank you. I'm glad that you find it interesting enough to bookmark. Also, yes, you are right that some of the things that I talk about are obvious, but many people still don't use them.
