Thanks. I appreciate it, and it will return someday when I decide to come back to League. It's slowly getting better now, but early into my hiatus, Renekton got hammered with nerfs along with my new job keeping me busy. It got hard to maintain this guide and it started getting dislike hits because it was slightly behind so I decided to pull it down for now.

If I come out of League retirement, I'll restore this guide, newly updated with everything current.

Why not max W? There is quite a lot of damage, and there will be a low CD?

The reason you max W last is because almost all of its damage is percent AD which doesn't increase with level. Q's damage and healing scales with level really well and E needs to have a short cooldown. Leveling W will technically make it better, but the value from the other two abilities outweighs it.

This design has always felt weird to me as well so the confusion is understandable. W is Renekton's key ability yet he maxes it last. Very odd, but it's how his numbers work.

The Destroyer? I don't know what that is.

As for Trinity Force, I don't recommend it when compared to the Mythic items listed in the guide. Because Renekton doesn't need much attack speed and builds Blade of the Ruined King, he has all the speed he reasonably needs already. Trinity Force isn't bad on Renekton, it's just not better than Goredrinker or Prowlers Claw.

Cull works fine for Renekton. It's a little weak of an item at first but once you finish the stacks, you can sell it for a profit of 180 gold since it pays for itself.

Nice guide! I just wish it was fully updated, since this one and the RTO one are the only In-Depth guides and both are outdated in some parts (RTO one even talks about Garen Villain mechanic lol)
For example Black Cleaver passive was changed since this guide was writen

Yeah I need to get around to some things. I only recently started playing again so I'm relearning a lot that changed. The builds chapter is the most tended to at the moment. I'll likely do another overhaul once I get familiar again and where I feel Renekton fits in the game right now.

If there's anything specific you feel is needed or a question my guide doesn't answer, I may be able to help. If it's Gwen and Viego matchups, I have not faced them yet.

Im glad you are back. Honestly your Rene guide is one of the best out there, and as you say, just a few weeks of play to get the finger in the red button again. The only thing i would quickly update is the Black Cleaver description in the itemization part,wich talks about it pre rework.

which you think is the better build pta or conqueror?

They both work well but, I'm gonna say Conqueror is better for the majority of games and lane matchups. It gives you the buff instead of debuffing an enemy which makes it better for team fights and 1v2s. PTA is really good vs ranged matchups because it's the 'Nuker' rune for Renekton, but it's a pain in team fights when your mark gets away and you'd be better of with Conqueror stacks instead. If you build lethality Renekton, go PTA. Conquer for pretty much anything else.

That's perfectly fine. It does make for a really strong early lane too. It's perfect for cosplaying as Rengar to make squishies think twice before walking into un-warded bushes. xD

at least you wont go invisible and materialise next to the opponent and one shot him. You are just gonna appear next to the person and one shot him.cause after shacco and twitch we dont need more champs with stealth

Much of the written guide is helpful to anyone in the top lane in general as it covers lane control and split pushing, but it is geared towards Renekton and how these game mechanics apply to him specifically.

Great guide! I've always wanted to learn more Renekton, so this guide really helped me. But I do have a question. What runes should I take when playing Renekton as a duelist? Great guide overall, very in-depth.

The dueling build is the split pusher rune set, but it also varies a lot by who your laner is and what items you build and I can help with that.

If you want to build Goredrinker which is the current best Mythic on Renekton, I strongly recommend Conqueror even verse ranged matchups. This is because the item active stacks Conqueror like an auto-attack would thus makes it feel more like it's pre-nerf self. If you wanna go for an Eclipse Deuling build, I think PTA is better for bursty 1v1s and pick making assassinations.

The secondary slot is really situational, so deciding between PTA vs Conqeruor is the main thing. If you want to be a duel style Renekton, make sure your allies have a solid comp first. This means the support or jungler are good initiators in team fights. If you have say, a Janna support and Kindred Jungler you have to front line for your team usually. A Zac jungler however, is amazing at engaging fights so you can be free to side lane more often.

My team fight runes don't have to be followed every time either. I regularly switch out the secondary to what I feel is needed. I just really enjoy the crazy cooldowns and Nimbus cloak speed to go Urf mode in team fights.
