I've followed this guide for a long time now and liked it, but I believe your builds for S14 aren't really optimal, would love to see you cooking something new for S14.

Try the rebite breaker style. My classics still work and if not is updated to the current recommended meta. Long as you go a balance of ability haste/attack speed on Voli, you're good. AP tends to thrive best Top while AD is little better in JG, but overall Voli can go both into tank or full damage.

Usually builds are in reverse when playing JG. I will have to go back in and make that clear. Since you put more points in Q in the jungle. So my usual top lane build is Nashor rush into Rift then eventually into AD like Hullbreaker or Titanic. While JG you can go Titanic first as what is commonly played Titanic into Sundered Sky. You can play AD to AP for jungle and AP to AD or tank. All I say is if you have a full AD build just makes sure your runes have some attack speed to balance out your damage. Can't just depend on W. On-hit is just as important.

HEya, How are you finding this new season?, Ive found success with a more tanky build (Most common build I go for is Iceborne, Jak'sho, Riftmaker) but I was wondering if you have a more successful and consistant build?

I just updated my builds. Having a lot of success with Heartsteel with Riftmaker. Iceborn is good with the build too. Hullbreaker scales well with Heartsteel now that it has hp scalings. There are so many ways to build the bear, but for the breaker style, I love this big bear this season now that Divine Sunderer is out of the picture.

Nice, Nice! Just tried some of your builds and I think that Heartsteel does sooooo much now, I tend to play more group fighting than split so Im building Jak'sho before Hullbreaker, but either way its still good :D

Me Again!, I have another question. Do you think a Lethality and/or Crit build maybe viable currently in the top lane? If so What would you recommend building

Try out Shrine Hunter using Predator with Ghostblade. I have seen players use Eclipse as well. As for Crit probably the best option would be the Navori with Lethal Tempo under Shrine Slapper. I'm sure you can craft your own lethality or crit breaker builds and have fun with it. ⚡🐻

What changes would you recomend to make to your builds and runes if you are focusing on fighting more than split pushing?

I would say if you want to fight more, look for ability haste items or utility items. Items like Black Cleaver is good, but also Cosmic Drive, Shojin, Spirit Visage, Frozen Heart for ability haste/sustain/movement. Any of those are great. As for utility, Sterak's, Stoneplate, Fimbulwinter, Zhonya's will give you extra tools to dive in either in fights or at towers. You can certainly craft your own team fight/ split hybrid build. ⚡🐻

An example of how I play is either; Heartsteel, titanic, Hullbreaker/B.Cleaver/Nashors, Tank Items or F.Gauntlet, Titanic/b.Cleavor, Hullbreaker, specific team items

Hi, nice guide. Maybe you should explain matchups with the threath scale (for example, I can't understand why Illaoi is a problem if you can dodge her soul steal).
It could be useful if you add some explanation for the midgame and for the lategame, too. Good work by now.

Sure, I could add that. I will tell you why Illaoi is a problem as I have always told my fellow Volibear mains that when it comes to the Illaoi, its a player skill difference. Some Volibear players are excellent at dodging and have no problem. For me personally, I am terrible at dodging her tentacles. A lot of people do not enjoy an Illaoi matchup. She has too many tentacles and requires too much dodging. She's just overall annoying to face compared to other Top laners other than Jax. Difficult to beat her at level 6 and even more so now that she abuses Iceborn Gauntlet. Once she has that, its not even fair. Hard to get away from the Soul steal or the ult from that point on. Volibear is the type champion that needs to be up close in combat and Illaoi has the perfect tools to punish those champions. It is easier to kill Illaoi in team fights than it is 1v1 split push yet alone try to kill her and take the nexus towers aftert that most of the time as she also takes Hullbreaker. So, she's basically a counter to this playstyle as you need the wave to push to the tower. She can instantly delete it and challenge anyone who gets too close. For those who can deal with her in the lane as Volibear, I admire your skill to do so. Keep in mind, there are some champions that Volibear struggles against, but for some Volibear players, they are easy. It depends on how you as a player plays against those champions. For example. Quinn is a known annoying champion to deal with Top lane, but I actually manage playing against her pretty well most of the time and some Volibear players that play well into Illaoi don't know how I manage to win a Quinn matchup. Its all based on skill and perference or playstyle.

Yeah I can see that the "skill diff" is a huge problem. I'm actually comfortable against (always bait her E than engage), but for example I can't play against Queen aswell XD. Thank you for your answer, and again nice work so far.

Yeah Illaoi can be annoying on different skill levels. For example if you face a mechanically good Illaoi in low elo, your jungler is likely to gank when she is lvl 6 and cost you the lane lol even when you manage to do well dodging her soul steal. In high elo players have a better idea how to play against her, but even then she's meant to bait champions to try to fight her. Her split push is pretty powerful. Not only she has a strong wave with Hullbreaker, her tentacles provide so much AoE in combination and the Iceborn slows is bound to hit someone for her to easily soul steal and ult. Think of it like Darius. Darius is easy for me, but for most he's a monster mainly because he can quickly run you down with his passive. You might manage to beat him in lane, but if one fool shows up like a squishy, all it takes is for him to stack his passive and then he will manage to kill you too. lol.

Hello artheo! i was wondering on wich situation i'd use each build, i play voli a lot, and i used to play riftmaker/lethal tempo 100% of the time, but after i've found your guides i simply loved your builds, you just saved my win rate, but i still pretty confused on how to use each build. I'm now going mostly of my games with the splitpush/utility radiant breaker, but i'd like to increase the range of possibilities, could you please tell me what would be the most appropriated builds for each situation? also sorry for the bad english, it's not my mother language, kisses from brazil 👊

Hello! Glad to hear my build/strategy has helped you. Tell you what, I will go back to each build under every playstyle I have and note what situation you would want to take this build into. A lot of it comes from matchup experience/skill and testing which playstyle worked out against certain champions. You can also determine that by the class of that champion. For example, if the Rift Breaker playstyle is working well for you against a tank, you can use that build for that class. Then figure out what you would use to help you for the other classes. Some champions are different and might need a unique way to build than the other champions in the same class. Some champions just straight up counter you lol and you just have to work around it. It will take me a bit of time to note down each build so bear with me :)

Sorry for another question again, but what is your view on building Blade of the Ruined King on Voli? I used it recently against Sion, and it worked quite well, however others have said it's not a good item to build

The Viego blade AKA the blade that most bruisers hate including Volibear lol. % health damage would work really well into Sion, which is why Divine Sunderer is also great for that reason. I do want to experiment with that item because it allows you to have % health damage with a mythic other than Divine Sunderer, which could be fun situationally. I will add this to my list of content to give everyone on this item.

Hi there Artheo, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on my AD Voli Item selection.
I have been going; Haste Boots, iceborne/Heartsteel, Black Cleaver, Titanic Hydra, And the rest are dependent tank items.
if you think this is not consistent or effective, what would you recommend for a AD build?

I think that works well considering you will be teaming up to get more stacks on Heartsteel. The ability haste from black cleaver comes in handy for that team fight also Titanic Hydra is an item that doesn't require Ability Haste, but works really well with it because of the Q and W. Beautiful combination.⚡🐻

I've taken a liking to your God Breaker Build but I am struggling with being too squishy with it, How would you build God Breaker as a more tanky option item-wise?

If you wish to be tanky, I would get the Sunfire Aegis. I added in a 2nd build option for most of my playstyles. Sunfire into mythic will help you most games if you wish to be tanky or help the team a little. ⚡🐻

Impressive! ⚡🐻 I also added in a 3rd option using Dead Man's Plate because I believe it scales with AD, but either way movement speed and armor is pretty good. Works extremely well with Q especially with Divine or Iceborn.

I was wondering, how would you rank these builds in strength? and I would also be interested in knowing which build is your personal favourite.

That's tough to rank them in strength since they are all unique playstyles. Its a matter of the situation of the matchup or playstyle preference. Some of you play some of my playstyles a bit better than some. For example, are you a good split pusher or team fighter? I have playstyles that do both or just split or team fight mostly until its time to end the game solo 👊.

I have a few personal favorites. One of them is GOD👊BREAKER because with those set of runes, using Conqueror, you can run any mythic option you want depending on the matchup into the SHRINE👊BREAKER items. The reason being is because Conqueror stacks damage on Volibear's R Stormbringer when diving in onto shrines/enemies. My other personal favorites is the classic original SHRINE👊BREAKER playstyle, STORM👊BREAKER because Iceborn Gauntlet in most matchups Top are AD and it gives you a great chance at countering for example, Divine Sunderer users since you can kite out their ability to spam the damage/heal using the slow zones with your W every 5 secs or less. Also because of Nimbus Cloak + Ghost, he has the ability to limit enemies kiting him and he has the ability to chase, dive, roam, or escape a bad situation. You can team fight or split with that playstyle. My next favorite is a split push only playstyle, RIFT👊BREAKER because the amount of early attack speed/ability power he can stack with the Riftmaker, Nashor's, and Elixir of Sorcery plus the Rift Heralds, allows him to quickly mow down lanes. If the Top laner leaves or dies, the lane gets punished and shrines will fall! Just because these are my personal favorites, doesn't make the other playstyles any less. Find what playstyle suits you. ⚡🐻

I am currently working on a playstyle using Radiant Virtue, which is mainly a teamfight mythic with high ability haste and item haste that allows Volibear to use his R Stormbringer many times in a single game. That will be released once I upload the video. 👊⚡🐻

I have a team-fighting-based playstyle, focusing on Tanking and Disrupting the enemy teams whilst doing a decent amount of damage, so I am excited to see this radiant virtue build. Personally, I have found a mixture of your Fimbulwinter and Colossal builds to be the most successful for me, but I am going to try your radiant build this second.
