You have 7 max items, and the insinuation that games last 20 minutes (120 gold) is completely false. Most games last 30-45 minutes. Still, I agree with the explanation.

Actually only 5 maximun items because doran blades will be trade in for other items.
And yes, normally game last 30 ~ 45 minutes.
With my gameplay instruction, most of your time will spending on denfense, killing minions (2XG for each), and take down turret (+150G)
Gold won't be a concern at all.

Yap, I bought two Doran blades during early game to power up the peacemaker and ultimate.
