This isn't for Veterans to have more power. Everyone has Rep and they get it just like Vets do.
"We've had a few gloomy years with bad console ports, and what do we get in the light at the end of the console-tunnel? A tablet OS ported to PC." - Atlas Tasume, on Windows 8
Rep has nothing to do with Veteran status.
If you do something good for the site and is active you will get Vet status.
You get Rep for helping others on the site. It's up to them to +Rep you.

"Moral justification is a powerful disengagement mechanism. Destructive conduct is made personally and socially acceptable by portraying it in the service of moral ends." - Albert Bandura
"Ultimately, if people lose their willingness to recognize that there are times in our history when legality becomes distinct from morality, we aren't just ceding control of our rights to government, but our futures." - Edward Snowden

But obviously if you do something good for the site you will get rep for it.
And I think all votes should be equal. If they're not it will screw up the ratings really bad.. and I really hope matt does not listen to this.
What I do want is for down votes to be anonymous. Today I was going to down-vote a guide and ended up deleting my post due to revenge downvoting

Yes, but that's another matter entirely.
This is just an idea that I got that could increase peoples' motivation for helping others. The more you help others the more your voice is heard.
It's also only marginally more since you'll max out at 3 voting power at like 1000+reps or even more.

"I sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of soaring over the oilfields dropping hot sticky loads on disgusting foreigners. People say to me that a person being a helicopter is Impossible and I’m ****ing ******ed but I don’t care, I’m beautiful. I’m having a plastic surgeon install rotary blades, 30 mm cannons and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me “Apache†and respect my right to kill from above and kill needlessly. If you can’t accept me you’re a heliphobe and need to check your vehicle privilege. Thank you for being so understanding." - Guuse
"uh, I identify as counterstrike and I find this globally offensive" - ???

What I think you guys are missing is that doubling or even tripling the upvoting power won't change much. However, doubling or tripling the downvoting power can be completely devastating. If two people with 40 rep downvote that's 4 downvotes. It can completely sink a newer guide or really hurt a moderate one.
As soon as you get to 30+ rep you'll have two choices when voting, either boost it a little bit more or hit it pretty hard.
There are guides that I downvoted because I didn't like the way they are built or what they are using the champion for. If my votes counted double I wouldn't have downvoted half the guides I did. I might not like some guide or I think it's stupid, but 2 downvotes is way too much power.
