It's more that they see I have a straight AP build and assume I'm too stupid to be a threat. The problem with this is that end game I'm healing 500 damage a pop with my astral blessing and 700 with Wish, so they can't kill my team until they kill me and I stay in the back like a good little Soraka.
Soraka can't roam. Only supporters with disables can roam.
