Well i think only telling him to go another char is not an option, becouse as i get it his friend does not have the ip for another champ and really enjoys playing Sion, so give some tips instead of saying: Go WW!
I have never jungled with sion, and i always go AD. He really gets alot from the farm in a side lane, pare him upp with a great healer support and he will be farming to win!
He works great on solo top also

Ok thanks, I'll leave out the Tiamat then and maybe have him do a Nashor's tooth first to help with the speed and cd's plus give the shield a little boost. Meanwhile we'll get him doing his daily 150 so he can buy Olaf (which is my main in ranked, so I know him well).
Anything else you guys consider great on Sion?
I'm leaning towards 0/21/9, or maybe a 0/13/17.
att speed reds/flat mana yellow/cdr blues/ unsure about quints
doing sustained jungle route with the VS- start at wraith and do the recall route to grab boots at lvl 3. It's kinda amateur but it's also fairly ungankable, plus he'll have me counter jungling anyway so it shouldn't be too bad.
Also what about picking up 2 lifesteal items? Like a gunblade or something, someone already builds starks, but I debated doing starks/madreds instead of building the lantern. I feel like building attack speed really helps take advantage of his enrage.

Why is it bad to go AD? :o
A good AD sion will carry a game on his own...
And tiamat is not needed even on AD sion. Shield + auto attack will mostly kill all the creeps
AD Sion isn't bad. It's just that if you jungle, you have to go AD, and there are better junglers than AD Sion.

So this build is for a premade 5v5 all on skype together so there are several assumptions
1. He will jungle every time.
2. There will be a counter jungler on his team to help.
3. There will be a main tank and an offtank specializing in CC (i.e. Alistar/amumu)
4. he will be a pusher, then enter group fight later to be dps/soak.
5. You will have the blue buff early and mid (AP carry get's it late)
Here is the build:
1. VampScepter
2. cloth
3. boots
4. finish lantern
5. boots of mobility
At this point we are around lvl 7 or 8, and Sion should be with me, as a roamer/ganker, so I suggested building into:
Taimat
and that is the question, you start out the roaming phase with the regen stuff to roam, then finish it off in time to start clearing lanes. Basically you pop your shield hit once and kill the whole wave and gain your 20+ life before leaving lane again.
People give tiamat a lot of ****, but it actually has a decent AD/gold cost, and dealing 40% of your damage in splash is nice, plus instantly clearing a lane and gaining health for each one killed lets him carry decently. I've been having good luck with it so far, but something feels wrong and I can't put my finger on it.
I have been wrapping up with typical hybrid stuff, nashor's tooth, Trinity, etc. If anyone has suggestions about that too I'm all ears.
The other option is he just sucks it up and buys Olaf + runes. but I want to make this work, I really want the stun and ult for group fights with our current arrangement.
