I'd rather follow Jet's old guide, it was something like; Start with two Faerie charms and 3 health pots->2 Philos, Ionian Boots, IE, PD, QSS. Philo stones are better then Avarice blades because they give you lane sustainability instead of just crit chance. If I was getting Yoyos later I'd get an early avarice, otherwise I'd stick to Philos.
As for Sheen it's not used because it can't crit and it only scales off base damage.

But that way of starting isn't all bad. If you really need that much mana-reg that is. Otherwise HoG is a better choice after the first philo.

No it wasn't. Double Philo is very strong on Gangplank - I've tried it. It's STILL strong on Gangplank. GP has mana problems and Manamune is **** on him anyway, so why not abuse GP10 for all it's worth, farm up 5k gold in 20 minutes, and start destroying people?

I said double philo is strong..
It was a troll guide. He said so himself when I thought it was weird that he mixed flat ArP with %ArP.

I just started playing Gangplank the last few days while he was free, but I freaking have loved him so far. So when I started I jsut stacked avarice blades. I was having issues with mana though, so now I typically start with boots +3hp pots, then build avarice blade, then philo stone, then another avarice, before going infinity edge, phantom dancer, and trinity force/youmoo's.
I have had pretty unelievable success with that build, its definitely VERY squishy, but man you hit hard.
However, I did notice one of the top builds rushes a sheen pretty early on GP. I like the thought of it, adding extra damage to parley, plus helping solve mana issues a little bit, but I notice none of the other guys go for it. As we all know, LoL is a copycat game, when a person finds a build that works better than others people follow it.....how come no one has followed rushing a Sheen on GP?
Also, I see stacking avarice blades criticized alot. Do you think it's dumb to get 2 avarice AND a philo stone before starting an infinity edge? Thans!
