Nunu needs some lategame buffs if they're nerfing his early game --.--

I'm looking for real tanks, not off-tanks. And Cho'Gath is a great jungler. There's no way a WW or trundle is better than Cho'gath as jungler tank.

Also, saying 3 random champions is not helpful at all. I will completely disregard your post if you do this.

What I'm worried about is if Nunu can fill in the role as tank. I never played him and I rarely see him being played, is he good enough?

Definitely. LLL main tanked with him against CLG, and won!

Rarely see him being played? In top tier games, he's a god. He got 10/1 wins/losses in dreamhack qualifiers.

I'm sorry if I'm not in 2000+ elo to see him being played that much.

Anyway, he's a viable tank? I'll try him tomorrow then.

I didn't question that - just he's used in like, 75% of high tier matches. Anyway, the match I was talking about -

Nunu main tanked and Irelia off tanked -

If you play Cho'gath, it's better to go AP off-tank - pure bulk isn't really necessary. Anyways, Amumu is the only decent pure tank nowadays; any other tanks build pure tank and still deal more damage than shen/rammus/malphite, or they can be just as bulky and deal lots of damage still, such as jarvan or irelia.

Actually, there is a way Warwick and Trundle are better are better as jungler tanks. Trundle builds wriggles/trinity force, then pure defense, and with his ultimate he's usually as tanky as a pure tank. Warwick can still deal lots of damage, and has lots of utility, when building pure tank, and then gets a LOT of damage just from a madred's/wit's end. Cho'gath is great as an AP tank, but the other two offer different things and you shouldn't rule them out just because they're not considered "pure tanks". Pure tanks are more or less obsolete nowadays because of all the tanky DPS that deal more damage and are just as tanky.

Nunu can fill the role of tank well; you'll want SOME ap to remain a threat, but it shouldn't be hard to build pure tank. When I'm doing poorly on Nunu I build sunfire/abyssal scepter combo, so you could even try that. However, nunu is a great CC bot with incredible amounts of utility so you should definitely consider him.

So, if you're only going to take one thing from what I've said, let it be this: don't rule out the off-tanks when picking for competitive play; more often than not they'll end up being better for the role you'd like to fill than the "pure tanks" you're inquiring about. Even with the pure tanks - nunu and cho'gath primarily - you'll be building damage. Even amumu builds a rylais if he's doing well (but that's to have slowing tears).

Ok, I guess it's best if I show you what role I need to fill instead of asking for 3 tank junglers.

Our team composition is:
AP Carry mid (no idea what champs will be picked)
Ranged AD carry bot (same thing)
Support/Babysitter bot (janna/sona/soraka)
Off-tank top (jarvan/irelia/something)
And me, the jungler.

In this setup I think a tank amumu would be the best option and I've gotten pretty good at it.
Both Nunu and Cho'gath are awesome in a team. Good CC, damage and health while being some of the best junglers available.
Can trundle or WW really be better for this setup? What about Lee Sin or Xin Zhao?

And btw, I'm asking for 3 since they might ban one and take the other.

Please, Irelia tanked more than Nunu did in that fight. CLG lost because of bad team comp. Amumu would have been far superior to Nunu if that had happened - although he would have lost some counter-jungle strength. Nunu at best in that game was a Caitlyn steroid and a perma-slow.

Pure tanks, in order of how good they would be, are Amumu, Rammus, and Cho'Gath. Cho really should be put in a lane. His jungle is strong but his ganks are weak and he's so amazing at lane farm anyway.

Amumu's a tier 1 jungle pick right now. His ultimate screws so much stuff up.

I would say only pick an offtank (Nunu, Warwick, Trundle, Lee Sin, Xin Zhao) if your team has a main tank already. For example, if Jarvan lanes top and decides to build full tank, or if you have a Cho'Gath solo lane top.

I don't think a main tank is always necessary - for instance, Shen, Rammus, and Malphite are all generally considered less than optimal on a team, and Amumu is the only tank used in competitive play nowadays because of his incredible CC. Two off-tanks is a rather common and viable strategy nowadays, especially when one of the other roles is rather tanky; for instance, if maokai or alistar is the support, I'd prefer jarvan and trundle over rammus and jarvan. Cho'gath may be considered a main tank, but he's really only viable because he can build lots of AP (thus doing lots of damage) and still be tanky as hell with his ultimate stacks.

Basically, depending on the squishiness of the remainder of your team, I think that an off-tank or trinity tank will do better than a main tank.
