Archiving is removing it from the public view so if you search for it on the site it will not appear, but still keeping the guide in the database, link to it in your profile under builds > archived, so you can show people it/refer to it if you need to...
and you can always unarchive
only people who have bookmarked the page/comes up in google can see the guide, no comments or voting allowed on it however
it is basically deleting but better since you still have it to refer to/show others
