I see the Sivir artist is terrible at drawing hands.

On topic: Wy have this? It's just making another "competition" and, are you going to pick all the images? That doesn't see like it's going to be very fair... "I like this image and I already know what I'm going to do 3 weeks ahead" versus "*forum stumbling* Oh new competition! I should try. *Predetermined pic in this thread* ... I don't like..."
Yes this isn't well explained but, I'll try to explain better if you want me to.

I realized that too xD /pat

I think this is a good idea, some people prefer finding their own images, others (like me) like to start with an already specified image. I'd participate but I'm leaving on a 10 day vacation and won't have my beloved computer with photoshop and all my good stuffs! T.T
To be updated soon!

Artist shortcuts. Instead of drawing all four fingers spread out, they draw 3 and add a bump or two to the middle "group of fingers" to make it look like 2 instead of a lump.

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

I personally like the idea (of course I was going to do this at somepoint) but it makes it seperate from SoTW. This forces more creativity out of people. You might think that it wouldn't but think of it like this:

SoTW meant we could find anything and go from there. That means if someone has better stock images, or finds better images to use for their background they might have a slightly better piece. Granted skill in making the piece look good was there but it's like telling a new art student he/she has to compete with Van Gough's Starry Night as a bench mark for his/her Impressionism Project.

Giving everyone equal footing means we have some commonality and have to express our style even more for it to be noticed compared to someone else's piece...Especially on a common stock photo to start.

LUG-Do you realize how tiring it can be to draw out a full hand? The reason artist's use shortcuts is becase we don't have time to spend 5 hours on creating a solid intriguing torso and then another 2 making sure the hand is proportional in terms of spacing of fingers, joints, and then make sure that is all in proportion with distance someone may be viewing the piece. So we use shortcuts to get things done. If we wanted to create a masterpiece everytime we did work we'd never get anything done. ((I'm a graphic design major but I've been taking traditional drawing classes etc too.))

I'm just saying. For an image, that never has to be re-drawn, taking an extra few minutes to draw a hand out completely should not be that difficult.

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

I had a project where I had to draw with extreme anatomical prescsion a set of about 15 hands. Each hand took me ~3 hours, a final hand had to be drawn with the flesh removed and detailed bone/muscle structure. That took me about 10 hours @_@ safe to say if an artist shortcuts something I'm not going to complain. XD
