Idea: How To Stop Trolls.

(i.e. colored names, custom text or something) [/list] [u][b]What This Would Do:[/b][/u] What this system would do is not only discourage smurfing, troll voting, and spamming, but encourage users to be more active on the forums, and be more constructive on the responses. I know I am not the greatest example, but this is just an possibility. What do you think? Edit: Also, I found lots, and I mean LOTS of troll guides that gets upvoted by trolls.[/quote]

We need more votes not less, this system will result in less votes and more spam. The "trolls" will take the effort to get points and spam, the genuine users will get annoyed and walk away. The system is complicated enough already, if we start layering on more and more complexity it'll just drive people away. It sounds good on paper but I just don't think it would work well in practice. You can't force people to get involved in the community (at least not in a positive way). The best you can do is make it easy and fun for them to do so and hope they take it from there. +Rep is fun. But it's important that it's not a big inconvenience for the new users. Making a guide cost should probably be reduced. 3points perhaps?[/quote]
