This is a suggestion, just hear me out.

Why not make a system called "Point System"

How to gain points:
  • You gain 1 point for every 10 posts. Each post must be at least 10 characters long.
  • You gain 1 point for each threads you make. You can only make 3 - 5 threads a day.
  • You gain 3 points for every +Rep you get.
  • You gain 5 points for every 100th post. The bonus increases every 100th post. (i.e. 100 posts = 5 points, 200 posts = 7 points, 300 points = 10 points)
  • You gain 2 points for logging in everyday. Bonus 3 points if logged in for a week without missing.

Some Rules:
  • Users below 50 posts may only post 5 - 10 times a day. This shows how determined you are to become a legit mobafire member.
  • Users below 50 posts may only make 3 - 5 threads per day.
  • Make people over 500 posts an "Intern" if more than 3 veterans agree that he/she contributed enough to the community and deserves it.
  • Interns may vote on guides freely, and has infinite amounts of points.
  • Interns, however, may NOT give out points, abuse his power, break the rules, etc.
  • Users below 150 posts may only vote 3 times a day.

How to use points:
  • Voting on a guide costs 3 points.
  • Creating a guide costs 10 points.
  • More suggestions needed. (i.e. colored names, custom text or something)

What This Would Do:
What this system would do is not only discourage smurfing, troll voting, and spamming, but encourage users to be more active on the forums, and be more constructive on the responses. I know I am not the greatest example, but this is just an possibility. What do you think?

Edit: Also, I found lots, and I mean LOTS of troll guides that gets upvoted by trolls.

I think I kind of like it, although the 3-5 threads per day seems extremely high, it should probably only be 1.

Then again for the casual user that just wants to post and vote on a build they have opinions on, it'll only encourage spamming. Also, this would force EVERYONE that wanted to vote or post on a build to become somewhat involved in the community.

I feel it'd just drive away the casual users.

More detriment than benefit.

But wouldn't that also raise the intelligence/mature level of the community?

I admit, it's a nice system but, I think it needs some tweaking. I'm not sure where though,

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

Moving this to support.

We've had suggestions like this many times before. Why do you have to comment to vote? Your opinion is just as valid whether you comment or not. We need more votes not less, this system will result in less votes and more spam. The "trolls" will take the effort to get points and spam, the genuine users will get annoyed and walk away. The system is complicated enough already, if we start layering on more and more complexity it'll just drive people away.

It sounds good on paper but I just don't think it would work well in practice. You can't force people to get involved in the community (at least not in a positive way). The best you can do is make it easy and fun for them to do so and hope they take it from there.

+Rep is fun. Restricting activities based on +Rep is not fun :(

Changed the thread amounts and added a rule.

I kinda like this idea. But it's important that it's not a big inconvenience for the new users. Making a guide cost should probably be reduced. 3points perhaps?

I don't get it, trollers will troll even more since you need to post stuff on the forum to be able to make a trollcomments! So this system will indeed attract more trollcomments and trollers!
