I would agree that Aegis would be nice if your team was having a little trouble, and you wanted to help them out a bit. I suppose you could be right in a way, where if the enemy team is focusing your teammates more than you, an Aegis could be more helpful as the situation item later in the match.

I totally agree about the use of these items, and i use to take one of them in game. I propose Aegis as a situational item, to counter really balanced team, even if the tank takes one since the aura stacks twice for the owners of Aegis. in the games i took it, it was really beneficial for me and my team.

The reason I take those items, is because Aegis gives you a little of everything, but the damage reduction would be minimal. Its the ability that is more useful about those items. Thornmail gives armor AND reflects physical damage. FoN gives you a large chunk of magic resist AND movement speed +hp regen. Quicksilver Sash is mainly to remove cc, the magic resist is just a side benefit. I buy those items to specifically counter a threat on the enemy team, not just a general defense upgrade.
It usually is the tanks job to buy Aegis of Legion and support the team.
The guide was downvoted because in one day, I surpassed all of the other guides, and got 15k views.Everyone else downvoted my guide to get it off the main page, so theirs could be #1 sadly. In games, I have yet to be defeated by another Riven.I always outperform them.

Upvoted. I found the link of this guide when i read one of dominion's riven guide,and i'm quite amazed this guide has been so downvoted. During one of my first game with riven, following your guide I made a 18/2/20.
I've just a question about defensive items : instead of taking FoN/Thornmail/Quicksilver Sash, can't you get sometimes something like an Aegis of the legion ? which will counter better a balanced team, in my opinion.

Every new guide downvotes the ones above it.Mine got pushed off the top 10 with a score of 53%, and for some reason they stopped afterwards, so the other guides climbed to 60%.Every new guide starts at 56%. I still wreck people in games, its a shame really.
